Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Surgery Coder with expertise in US healthcare coding to accurately code surgical procedures across multiple specialties. The role demands solid knowledge of coding guidelines, high productivity standards, and strict adherence to quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and interpret operative reports, physician notes, and medical records to assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes
- Apply appropriate modifiers, NCCI edits, and bundling rules for surgical coding
- Ensure compliance with US coding standards, payer-specific guidelines, and regulatory requirements
- Meet defined productivity and quality benchmarks (TAT, accuracy levels)
- Analyze and resolve coding edits, denials, and rejections
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders for clarifications and documentation improvements
- Participate in audits, feedback sessions, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Stay updated with annual coding changes and payer updates

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong expertise in CPT coding for surgical procedures
- In-depth understanding of ICD-10-CM, HCPCS Level II
- Knowledge of NCCI edits, LCD/NCD guidelines, and payer-specific rules
- Ability to handle high-volume coding with accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills




- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems and coding tools

Qualifications

- Any Graduate (Life Sciences preferred)
- Mandatory certification: CPC / CCS / COC (active certification required)
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in surgical coding (US healthcare)
- Experience in specialties such as Orthopedics, General Surgery, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, or Multispecialty Surgery preferred

- Achieve high coding accuracy (95% and above)
- Meet daily productivity targets as per business requirements
- Adhere to Turnaround Time (TAT) commitments
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and data security standards
