Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Understands requirements for part/assembly concept generation. Derives and cascades requirements at a subsystem level based on the engineering scope for the system. Balances conflicting requirements for subsystem such as weight, cost, NVH, regulatory requirements and other considerations.
Gathers detailed data based on predefined parameters using different sources/tools.
Interprets benchmark information related to design such as mounting and locating strategy, part thickness, assembly technique etc. to generate proposals for part/assembly.
Decides parameters and identifies various internal and external sources/tools for gathering relevant information at a subsystem level.
Analyses benchmark report for subsystem w.r.t parameters such as cost, weight,CPQ, manufacturability etc.
Generates multiple proposals by considering design alternatives ( substitute, combine, modify, eliminate, materials etc.) to meet specification at part/assembly level.
Creates decision matrix using predefined parameters for part/assembly.
Analyzes and evaluates proposals based on the decision matrix and other subsystem requirements.
Recommends
proposals for the sub system that balances functional and technical requirements.
