Job Summary

The Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding on pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, piping, and structural components as per approved WPS, fabrication drawings, and applicable codes such as ASME Section VIII and Section IX.

The welder must ensure full compliance with quality, safety, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Welding Work

- Perform welding as per approved WPS (Welding Procedure Specification).
- Execute welding using processes such as:
- SMAW (Stick Welding)
- GTAW (TIG Welding)
- MAG (CO2 welding)
- Copper Brazing
- Silver brazing
- Weld materials like:
- Carbon Steel (CS)
- Stainless Steel (SS)
- Copper (Cu)

2. Pressure Vessel Fabrication Work

- Welding of:
- Shell longitudinal & circumferential seams
- Dished ends
- Nozzle attachments
- Flanges
- Reinforcement pads
- Fit-up verification before welding
- Multi-pass welding with proper interpass cleaning
- Maintain correct root gap, alignment, and bevel preparation

3. Code & Quality Compliance

- Work as per:
- ASME Section VIII
- ASME Section IX
- Project specifications & QAP
- Maintain welding parameters within WPS limits
- Ensure welds are suitable for:
- Radiography (RT)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- DP / MPI testing
- Avoid defects like:
- Porosity
- Lack of fusion
- Undercut
- Slag inclusion

4. Equipment Handling

- Proper handling of:
- Welding machines
- Electrodes
- Gas cylinders




- Ovens for electrode baking
- Maintain electrode control and traceability (if required by QAP)

5. Safety Responsibilities

- Follow all PPE requirements
- Work safely in confined spaces (inside vessel)
- Follow hot work permit system
- Maintain safe housekeeping

Required Qualifications

- ITI Welder / Trade Certified
- Valid welding qualification certificate (6G preferred)
- 12th pass with experience in Pressure vessel / Heat exchanger welding

Experience Required

- 3–10 years experience in:
- Pressure vessel fabrication
- Heat exchanger fabrication
- Heavy fabrication industry
- Experience in X-ray quality welding preferred

Technical Skills Required

- Ability to read fabrication drawings
- Knowledge of welding symbols
- Understanding of weld joint types:
- Butt joints
- Fillet joints
- Groove joints
- Knowledge of preheating & PWHT requirements

Preferred Skills

- Experience in:
- Thick plate welding (3–40 mm)
- SAW for long seams
- TIG root pass welding
- Ability to work in shifts
- Work as fitter an added advantage
- Team coordination with fitters & QC inspectors

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
