Job Description
Core Responsibilities
1. Strategic Academic Leadership
- Departmental Oversight: Manage the daily operations of the Forensic Medicine department, including budget, personnel, and infrastructure.
- Curriculum Design: Lead the development and modernization of the undergraduate and postgraduate medical curriculum to include recent legal amendments and forensic technologies.
- Faculty Mentorship: Supervise and mentor Assistant and Associate Professors, guiding their teaching methods and research initiatives.
2. Expert Medico-Legal Consultancy
- Advanced Autopsy: Provide expert opinions on complex or high-profile medico-legal cases, including custodial deaths or exhumations.
- Expert Testimony: Represent the institution in High Courts or the Supreme Court as a senior expert witness.
- Policy Advice: Consult with law enforcement and government bodies on the development of forensic protocols and death investigation systems.
3. Research & Innovation
- Research Supervision:
Serve as a Principal Investigator for major institutional research projects.
- PhD/PG Guide: Act as a primary thesis advisor for MD and PhD candidates, ensuring high scholarly standards.
- Editorial Contribution: Often serve on the editorial boards of forensic journals or as a peer reviewer for international publications.
Required Qualifications & Experience

Education
MD in Forensic Medicine or DNB from an NMC-recognized institution.
Experience
Typically requires a minimum of 8–10 years of teaching experience, including at least 3 years as an Associate Professor.
Publication Record
A robust portfolio of original research (usually 10+ publications) in high-impact, indexed journals.
Recognition
Often required to be an "NMC-approved Inspector" for assessing other medical colleges.
