Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer with 5 years of experience in automotive plastic product design to support the development of high-quality interior and exterior plastic components. The role requires hands-on experience in CAD design, plastic part development, tooling coordination, and cross-functional collaboration to meet quality, cost, and performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and develop automotive plastic components in line with OEM and industry standards
2. Create 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using CATIA
3. Ability to create and apply DFMEA, DFM, DFA, and plastic design best practices
4. Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and feasibility checks
5. Coordinate with tooling, manufacturing, CAE, quality, and suppliers
6. Support mold design reviews, trials, and production launch activities
7. Create and manage engineering changes and continuous product improvement
8. Ensure compliance with GD&T;, material, and automotive standards
9.
Participate in design reviews and customer technical discussions
Required Skills & Competencies
1. Strong knowledge of plastic injection-molded part design
2. Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6
3. Experience with automotive plastic materials such as PP, ABS, PC, PA, and PBT
4. Valuable understanding of GD&T; and 2D drawing standards
5. Knowledge of tooling concepts and mold feasibility
6. Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and DFMEA processes
7. Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
Educational Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Production Engineering or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers
2. Exposure to interior trim, exterior, or functional plastic components
3. Basic knowledge of CAE result interpretation
4. Experience in cost optimization and value engineering
