Job Description: A Purchase Executive in the steel industry manages the end-to-end procurement of raw materials, consumables, and spares. They are responsible for identifying suppliers, negotiating contracts, and tracking deliveries to ensure uninterrupted production at optimal costs. [1, 2] Key Responsibilities

- Strategic Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with domestic and international vendors for materials like steel coils, plates, ferroalloys, and iron ore. [1, 2]
- Procurement Execution: Generate and manage Purchase Orders (POs) in ERP systems, track shipments, and expedite delayed deliveries. [1]
- Cost & Budget Control: Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and freight rates to meet company savings targets while keeping abreast of global metal pricing and LME (London Metal Exchange) trends. [1, 2]
- Inventory Control: Monitor raw material and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) spare stock levels to prevent production stoppages or over-ordering. [1, 2]
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliveries meet required industry standards,



reconcile Material Test Certificates (MTC), and handle discrepancies for damaged or rejected goods. [1, 2]
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, Stores, and Accounts teams to align procurement schedules with plant requirements. [1]

Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 2–5 years in purchasing roles specifically within steel manufacturing, rolling mills, pipe manufacturing, or fabrication.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Tally) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Core Competencies: Solid commercial negotiation skills, analytical capability, and a deep understanding of the steel supply chain
