Director Supply Chain Engineering

Reports To: Vice President, Core Technology Services

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Supply Chain Engineering is the leader accountable for the architecture, design, and delivery of all supply chain technology solutions. This position is responsible for leading global engineering teams located in India and the US, covering full stack custom applications, integrations/ETL, quality assurance, and technical architecture. The Director will engage with and directly support the Product Teams and Operational Command Center and develop a comprehensive software delivery roadmap aligned with strategic initiatives, executing with speed and ingenuity to enhance Ferguson's supply chain capabilities. This leader will be responsible for identifying and removing constraints, developing a bench of high-quality talent, and delivering projects with consistency and excellence. The role will be a key part of the Technology Extended Leadership team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy & Planning:

- Execute the mission and vision of the Core Technology Services team to foster a business-oriented culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement.
- Lead the development of the Supply Chain Engineering strategy and roadmap, ensuring its integration with the overall Technology and business strategic plans.
- Work with the Technology leadership team on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources and initiatives.
- Drive the development of technology standards, governance processes, and performance metrics for the Supply Chain Engineering team.

Software Engineering & Architecture:

- Lead the end-to-end delivery of innovative supply chain solutions that enable Associates to deliver world-class Customer experience.
- Model what it means to be a good technical partner to product teams and business stakeholders.




- Accountable for all technical architecture and software engineering for supply chain solutions, including custom-developed platforms and integrated systems.
- Identify and seize opportunities to innovate and transform the supply chain technology landscape, incorporating AI and modern engineering practices where applicable.
- Responsible for defining and developing highly functional, nimble, and global solution delivery teams.
- Accountable for all facets of the software development lifecycle (technical requirements, design, development, configuration, testing, and deployment).
- Accountable for delivering to estimates and timelines.
- Handling a team size of 30-40 members.

People Leadership and Operations Management:

- Influence the annual operating and capital expenditure budget for Supply Chain Engineering.
- Support the sourcing strategy and provide oversight for strategic vendor and partner relationship management.
- Work closely with the CISO and our Security team to ensure SOX compliance and adherence to all security policies and procedures.
- Provide strong leadership, coaching, and direction to the Supply Chain Engineering leadership team and staff.
- Work with HR and the Technology leadership team to develop a "people strategy" that ensures the right mix of business knowledge, technical skills, and leadership competencies.
- Forecast future skills needs to acquire and develop a workforce prepared for future technological and business challenges.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities, Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, supply chain, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 15 or more years of experience in the Technology industry, including five (5) years in IT leadership positions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams of 40 or more associates in a global environment.
- Strong, proven experience in both software engineering and the supply chain domain.
- Experience with modern software development practices for custom applications (full stack), integrations/ETL, and quality assurance.
- Experience implementing and leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the SDLC process.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate a vision that inspires and motivates a global team.
- Proven ability to engage effectively and build relationships with other leaders, teams, and business partners.
- Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, and execution skills.
- Robust business acumen, including industry and domain-specific knowledge.
- Expertise in budget planning and financial management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to business leaders and business concepts to the technical workforce.
