Research Engineer 3 - Polymer Processing Engineer
Saint-Gobain Research India is seeking a talented and experienced Polymer Processing Engineer to accelerate the
development and commercialization of innovative polymer-based solutions for the construction industry. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of materials science, manufacturing, and product innovation while contributing to solutions
that improve the performance, sustainability, and efficiency of the built environment. The role is focused on film, sheet, and related polymer processing technologies and requires close collaboration with manufacturing, product development, and business teams.
As a key member of our research and innovation team, you will lead projects from concept through industrial implementation, translating ideas into scalable products and processes that deliver tangible business value.

Product & Process Development
• Develop, optimize, and scale polymer processing technologies for films, sheets, and related construction products.
• Design and execute experiments to improve product performance, manufacturability, quality, and cost
competitiveness.
• Evaluate new materials, formulations, and process technologies to support innovation and business growth.
• Translate technical concepts into practical manufacturing solutions
Manufacturing Scale-Up & Commercialization
• Lead the transition of new products and technologies from laboratory and pilot stages to manufacturing.
• Support plant trials, product validation activities, and industrial implementation.
• Partner with manufacturing teams to improve operational performance and resolve technical challenges.
• Contribute to successful product launches through close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
Technical Problem Solving
• Investigate processing and product performance issues using data-driven methodologies.
• Identify root causes and recommend sustainable corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, productivity, and reliability.
• Apply scientific and engineering principles to solve complex manufacturing challenges.
Scale-Up & Manufacturing Support
• Work closely with R&D;, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, Marketing, and Commercial teams.
• Collaborate with external suppliers, technology partners, and customers when required.
• Communicate technical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation, teamwork, and knowledge sharinG
Project Management & Collaboration
• Manage multiple technical projects with clear timelines and deliverables.
• Collaborate across R&D;, operations, quality, procurement, and commercial teams.
• Prepare clear technical reports and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) from concept to commercialization.
We are looking for candidates with strong industrial experience in polymer processing and manufacturing environments, ideally
with demonstrated success in bringing new products or processes to commercial scale.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable:
• Film or sheet extrusion
• Polymer compounding and formulation
• Coating, lamination, or converting processes
• Manufacturing process optimization
• Product scale-up and industrialization
• Commercialization of new materials or products
• Technical support for manufacturing operations
Qualifications
• M.S. in Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related
discipline with 7+ years of relevant industrial experience; or
• Ph.D. in a relevant discipline with 3+ years of industry experience.
Technical Skills
• Candidates should possess a strong combination of materials science and process engineering knowledge,
including:
• Hands-on experience in polymer processing technologies, particularly thermoplastics.
• Understanding of extrusion and related manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of polymer materials, formulations, additives, and their impact on performance.
• Experience with structured experimentation and data-based decision making.
• Familiarity with process optimization and scale-up in industrial environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing and product performance issues effectively.
