BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION:

The Enterprise Technology team at CIBC designs and manages data platforms to support business intelligence and analytics. They ensure secure, reliable storage and accessibility of enterprise-wide data assets. The team implements data governance, quality, and compliance standards, enabling data-driven decision making across the organization through innovative solutions.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Developer is responsible for leading the technical design, development, and integration of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems and providing enhancements to existing technologies. The role works on complex issues involving one or more technical areas, mentoring employees, and performing tasks of advanced technical depth and breadth. The incumbent collaborates with developers, architects, and infrastructure specialists to gather requirements and conduct research to evaluate the application of new and emerging tools and techniques, identifying patterns and best practices to consider in technology proposals while anticipating long-term business issues. The role devises new methods and procedures using strong analytic and inductive thinking, developing project plans based on appropriate standards and methodology. You will build, implement, and maintain easy, flexible, and personalized solutions that enhance the client experience for a net new business-critical wires application. You will drive technical design and development, as well as ensure seamless integration of vendor applications.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Design and Develop: Perform and coordinate complex application programming activities. Design the application's technical infrastructure using specific databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing approaches. Lead the design and development of cost-effective and creative solutions. Implement vendor applications and ensure solutions satisfy requirements and are compliant with CIBC standards.
- Lead & Influence: Lead code-review sessions and ensure overall code quality aligns with business and project requirements.



Monitor production and user acceptance testing support to troubleshoot complex problems on applications and technologies.
- Design Experience: Design end-to-end technical solutions for tier 1 data store applications with near real-time reporting capability.
- Infrastructure Assessment: Assess infrastructure capacity and provide recommendations, design multi-tier application integrations using MQ, APIs, feeds, etc.
- Database Design: Design database models, partitioning, archival strategies, etc.
- Effort Estimation: Effort estimation for analysis, design, development, and testing for the above work.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

- Collaborate with product, development, and operations teams to ensure end-to-end quality and compliance of payment solutions.
- Interact with internal stakeholders, including business analysts, product owners, and technology teams, to gather requirements and provide expertise.
- Work closely with external vendors and partners as required for payment platform integrations, compliance, and testing.
- Coordinate with compliance, risk, and information security teams to ensure adherence to regulatory and security standards.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Education: You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, and/or a related field

Must have skills:

- 5+ years in a Development role leading projects and designing solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL MI, JAVA 17, J2EE, PostgreSQL, Oracle (11g or higher), JavaScript, JSON, XML, Visual Studio Code, SQL, Power BI, Azure APIM, IBM MQ, ADLS, Azure MSI/MUI, Azure RBAC, and Azure NSG.
- Experience building and integrating with external systems using SOAP/REST APIs.
- Experience with different data storage solutions, e.g., Delta lake, databases, etc.
- Experience with data export/import from different SQL server offerings and ADLS.
- Conducting performance tuning for Azure SQL MI.
- Solid understanding of inner working of indexes, partitions, data files and expertise in SQL query optimization.
- Experience working with waterfall methodology.
- Experience with incident, problem, and change management.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to articulate yourself clearly to technology partners.

Nice to have:

- Knowledge of DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Maven, Ansible, and Artifactory is an asset.
- Knowledge of Single Sign-On is an asset.
- Knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies are an added advantage.
- Understanding of large value payments and Wires, SWIFT, ISO 20022, LVTS/Lynx is also an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- This role operates within a normal office environment with little exposure to adverse working conditions.
