What Youll Be Doing (position summary):

The Senior AEM Developer is a critical technical role within CIBC's Digital Experience team, responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade solutions built on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). This role encompasses both traditional AEM development and modern AEM Headless architectures, enabling CIBC to deliver seamless, personalized, and omnichannel digital experiences to its clients via online and banking banking.

The Senior AEM Developer will serve as a technical authority on the AEM platform, driving best practices, mentoring team members, and leading complex integrations across the Adobe Experience Cloud ecosystem. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping CIBC's content management strategy and ensuring that all digital solutions meet the bank's rigorous standards for security, performance, accessibility, and regulatory compliance.

JOB DIMENSIONS:

- Actively write code and tests for Jira stories, ensuring timely completion and adherence to requirements.
- Receive development stories and defects from team leads or pull from sprint and defect lists as required.
- Follow secure coding practices and address security risks identified in security scans.
- Properly document code to meet audit and compliance standards.
- Utilize Github Copilot and other productivity tools to enhance development efficiency.
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale AEM solutions using AEM 6.5+ ensuring alignment with CIBC's digital platform roadmap
- Develop reusable, scalable, and maintainable AEM Core Components, custom components, templates, workflows, and OSGi bundles using Java, Sling, JCR, HTL (Sightly), and Maven
- Design and implement AEM Headless architectures leveraging Content Fragment Models, GraphQL and the AEM Headless SDK to support decoupled and omnichannel content delivery
- Define and enforce AEM development standards, coding guidelines, design patterns, and best practices across the team to ensure consistency, quality, and maintainability
- Actively participate in a scrum team, contributing to a positive team culture and collaborative environment.
- Engage in knowledge transfer and training with senior developers and team leads.
- Collaborate with QA, UX/UI, Business Analysts, and Editorial teams to ensure seamless inter-team cooperation and timely removal of blockers.
- Engage with Adobe Professional Services and Adobe Support as needed to resolve complex platform issues, escalate product defects.
- Act as a technical mentor and coach for junior and intermediate AEM developers, providing guidance, knowledge sharing, and hands-on support to foster team growth and capability development.
- Take full end-to-end ownership of assigned AEM development tasks, features, and project deliverables, ensuring timely and high-quality completion within agreed sprint commitments and project timelines




- Provide accurate effort estimations for development tasks during sprint planning and project scoping, proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and technical constraints that may impact delivery
- Maintain transparent and consistent communication with the team lead, project manager, and stakeholders regarding task progress, blockers, and any changes to scope or timeline
- CI/CD pipeline management, infrastructure understanding, and deployment coordination
- Engages with senior developers and leads for technical guidance and knowledge transfer.
- Coordinates with other functional groups as necessary to resolve issues and remove development blockers.
- Translation of design specifications and prototypes into AEM components and templates
- Works as an individual contributor within a scrum team structure.
- Accountable for the completion of assigned Jira stories, defect resolution, and code reviews.
- Contributes to the overall success of the team by supporting the achievement of sprint goals and improving team metrics, such as story completion rate and defect counts.

Must Have Skills:

- AEM Platform: Deep expertise in AEM 6.5+ including Sites, Assets and Headless capabilities.
- Core Development: Proficiency in Java, OSGi/Felix, Apache Sling, JCR/Oak, HTL (Sightly), Sling Models, and Maven
- AEM Headless: Hands-on experience with Content Fragment Models, GraphQL, AEM Content Services, and the AEM Headless SDK
- Front-End Technologies: Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and experience with React or Angular within the AEM SPA Editor framework
- Adobe Experience Cloud Integrations: Demonstrated experience integrating AEM with Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target, Adobe Launch, and Adobe I/O
- API Development: Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and GraphQL APIs in enterprise integration contexts
- DevOps & CI/CD: Proficiency with Git, Jenkins, Maven, Adobe Cloud Manager, and Agile delivery methodologies
- Dispatcher & Infrastructure: Experience configuring AEM Dispatcher, CDN integrations (e.g., Akamai).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration within a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and practices.
