About the Opportunity
A position within the healthcare sector delivering tertiary and secondary care nephrology services across Assam and Northeast India. The role sits in a busy clinical environment with inpatient, outpatient, ICU and dialysis services—responsible for high-quality renal care, dialysis program oversight, and multidisciplinary coordination. This is an on-site consultant role focused on clinical leadership and service growth.
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient nephrology care, including diagnosis, management, and follow-up of AKI, CKD and electrolyte disorders.
- Lead and oversee dialysis operations—hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and CRRT—ensuring clinical protocols, safety and infection control adherence.
- Perform and supervise renal procedures including ultrasound-guided renal biopsy and vascular access assessment; maintain procedural documentation and complication management.
- Work collaboratively with critical care, transplant, cardiology and endocrinology teams to coordinate complex patient care and perioperative renal management.
- Drive clinical governance: develop protocols, quality-improvement audits, morbidity & mortality reviews, and contribute to service capacity planning and cost-effective care delivery.
- Mentor and train junior doctors, dialysis nurses and allied staff; participate in academic activities,
case presentations and local teaching programs.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- DM or DrNB in Nephrology (or equivalent specialist qualification)
- Valid Indian medical registration with an active state medical council or NMC
- Proven experience managing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis services in a clinical setting
- Experience performing renal biopsy and managing procedure-related complications
- Demonstrated competence in AKI and CRRT management in ICU settings
- Strong record of multidisciplinary collaboration and clinical governance participation
Preferred
- Experience in transplant nephrology or peri-transplant renal care
- Prior leadership responsibility in a dialysis unit or nephrology department
- Involvement in clinical audits, publications or teaching programs
