Details Mission and objectives The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child everywhere in everything the organization does in programs in advocacy and in operations The child rights equity and gender equality through health education protection and social policy interventions In water and sanitation UNICEF supports the Government to achieve safe equitable and sustainable drinking water and sanitation services promoting climate-resilient systems strengthening institutional capacities and advocates for child-centered climate-smart policies and community resilience The UN Volunteer will support the UNICEF India Water Sanitation and Hygiene and Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability WASH-CCES Section in areas of Knowledge Management related to UNICEF WASH CCES program The UNV will also support research and impact studies in WASH CCES Task description Under the direct supervision of WASH Specialist the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks a Knowledge Management and Research and impact studies Support the development of knowledge related products to WASH for submission to global regional and national UNICEF newsletters Support the development and submission of documents on WASH for submission to government and partner publications Support organization knowledge sharing events both offline and online Support in assessment and studies of WASH programme Contributes to developing rapid assessment tools and questionnaires b Monitoring Reports Support development of collection and collation of data for reporting of result reports and development and submission of national level reports Support development of generation of inputs for annual Result Area Matrix RAM and Core Standard Indicators CSI reports and development and submission of national level results and reports Support creating a process by monitoring frameworks and cutting-edge methods for on field monitoring and reporting Support development and update monitoring frameworks for donor reporting Assists data analysis of WASH data and preparing reporting dashboards c Strengthening Government Data Systems Participates in reviewing data on sanitation water hygiene and climate change from government WASH program MIS and national surveys to identify key deprivations and gaps Support development of advocacy notes with the Ministry and state governments on SDG target monitoring and reporting Furthermore UN Volunteers are required to Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day Be acquainted with and build on traditional and or local forms of volunteerism in the host country Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking including participation in ongoing reflection activities Contribute articles write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications websites newsletters press releases etc Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible Requirements Minimum 3 years of experience in in Water and sanitation Knowledge Management research and impact studies Ability to conceptualize plan develop implement monitor evaluate and report on programmes in the areas indicated above and to transfer knowledge and skills Previous experience as a volunteer and or experience of another culture i e studies volunteer work internship would be highly regarded Analytical negotiating and satisfactory performance However there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing utilities and normal cost of
