Head of Jewellery Merchandising

Position: Head Jewellery Merchandising

Role Summary

The Head of Jewellery Merchandising is responsible for developing and executing merchandising strategies to maximize sales, profitability, inventory productivity, and customer satisfaction across all stores. The role involves product planning, assortment management, inventory control, vendor coordination, pricing strategy, and trend analysis for branded jewellery categories.

Key Responsibilities

1. Merchandise Planning & Strategy

- Develop annual and seasonal merchandising plans aligned with business objectives.
- Define product assortment strategies for Gold, Diamond, Silver, Platinum, and Bridal Jewellery categories.
- Analyze sales trends, customer preferences, and market demand to optimize product mix.
- Ensure the right product is available at the right store and at the right time.

2. Product Assortment & Inventory Management

- Manage inventory levels, stock turns, and ageing stock across all stores.
- Monitor replenishment and allocation of merchandise to maximize sales.
- Develop strategies for liquidation of slow-moving and non-performing inventory.
- Maintain optimum inventory investment while achieving sales targets.

3. Vendor & Product Development Management

- Build solid relationships with jewellery manufacturers and vendors.
- Coordinate with design and sourcing teams for new product development.
- Evaluate vendor performance on quality, pricing, delivery, and innovation.
- Negotiate commercial terms and procurement plans.

4. Sales & Performance Analysis

- Track category-wise sales performance, margins, and inventory productivity.
- Prepare and present MIS reports, forecasts, and business reviews.
- Identify opportunities to improve category performance and profitability.




- Work closely with retail operations teams to drive sales growth.

5. Pricing & Margin Management

- Develop pricing strategies in line with market trends and company objectives.
- Monitor category margins and ensure profitability targets are achieved.
- Conduct competitor benchmarking and market analysis.

6. Trend Analysis & Market Research

- Stay updated with jewellery trends, fashion movements, and customer preferences.
- Conduct market visits and competitor analysis.
- Recommend new collections and product innovations.

7. Team Leadership

- Lead and mentor the merchandising team.
- Establish performance objectives and monitor team productivity.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Retail, Marketing, Sourcing, and Supply Chain teams.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, Retail Management, Marketing, or related field.
- MBA preferred.

Experience

- 12–18 years of experience in Jewellery Merchandising, Category Management, or Retail Merchandising.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role within a branded jewellery retail organization.
- Experience with Most popular brands.
