We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Indexer to join our Content team. The role is responsible for creating, reviewing, and managing high-quality indexes for academic, scientific, technical, and professional publications.

The Senior Indexer will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, consistency, and usability of indexes while mentoring junior team members and supporting process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

- Create comprehensive and accurate indexes for books, journals, reference works, and other scholarly publications.
- Review, edit, and quality-check indexes prepared by junior indexers and external vendors.
- Analyze complex manuscripts and identify key concepts, terminology, names, and subjects for indexing.
- Ensure adherence to publisher-specific indexing standards, style guides, and best practices.
- Collaborate with editorial, production, and project management teams to resolve content and indexing-related queries.
- Manage multiple indexing projects simultaneously while meeting quality standards and production deadlines.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior indexers and recent team members.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of indexing workflows and quality frameworks.
- Support resource planning, workload allocation, and project tracking activities as required.
- Maintain documentation of indexing standards, procedures,



and quality benchmarks.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelors or Master’s degree in English, Library Science, Information Science, Publishing, Journalism, or a related discipline.
- Excellent command of written English with strong comprehension and analytical skills.
- Advanced understanding of indexing principles, taxonomy, metadata, and information organization.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and indexing tools/software.

Experience

- 5–8 years of experience in indexing, editorial, content management, or scholarly publishing.
- Proven experience in creating and reviewing indexes for academic, STM, professional, or educational publications.
- Experience in mentoring or leading small teams is preferred.

Preferred Skills

- Knowledge of scholarly publishing workflows and production processes.
- Familiarity with indexing software and content management systems.
- Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
