Role & responsibilities :
1. AML/CFT Program Ownership & Governance
- Own and drive the enterprise-wide AML/CFT framework in alignment with:
- PMLA
- RBI Guidelines
- FIU-IND obligations
- NPCI compliance requirements
- FATF standards
- Ensure effective implementation and continuous enhancement of AML controls across products and business lines.
- Lead AML risk assessments and periodic control effectiveness reviews.
- Drive AML governance forums, management reporting, and board-level updates.
- Ensure organization-wide adherence to AML policies, SOPs, and regulatory obligations.
2. FIU-IND Regulatory Reporting & APO Responsibilities
- Act as Alternate Principal Officer (APO) for AML/CFT and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Oversee and ensure timely and accurate submission of:
- STR filings
- CTR filings
- NTR reporting
- Cross-border / regulatory reporting obligations (if applicable)
- Coordinate directly with FIU-IND for:
- Queries
- Notices
- Regulatory escalations
- Inspections and audits
- Maintain robust governance over AML alert reviews, case management, and escalation protocols.
- Support Principal Officer in regulatory interactions and enforcement-related matters.
3. Transaction Monitoring & Investigations
- Lead transaction monitoring operations across:
- PA Online
- PA Offline
- Wallet / Payment products (if applicable)
- Define and optimize monitoring rules, thresholds, typologies, and detection scenarios.
- Ensure proactive identification and investigation of:
- Suspicious transactions
- Mule accounts
- Fraud-linked patterns
- Layering and structuring activities
- Drive data-led intelligence and behavioural monitoring enhancements.
4.
AML Screening & Sanctions Compliance
- Oversee enterprise-wide screening framework for:
- Sanctions
- PEPs
- Adverse media
- Internal blacklists
- Ensure compliance with:
- OFAC
- UN sanctions
- MHA directives
- Domestic watchlists
- Govern alert disposition, escalation, and screening effectiveness reviews.
5. Policy, SOP & Regulatory Framework Management
- Lead drafting, review, and enhancement of:
- AML/CFT Policy
- KYC & Customer Due Diligence Policy
- Transaction Monitoring SOPs
- STR/CTR/NTR SOPs
- Fraud Risk Management framework
- Sanctions & Screening SOPs
- Escalation matrices and governance procedures
- Ensure policies remain aligned with evolving regulatory expectations and emerging financial crime risks.
- Conduct periodic policy reviews and gap assessments.
6. Fraud Risk & Typology Management
- Lead fraud typology identification and reporting to:
- RBI
- NPCI
- Internal governance committees
- Analyse emerging fraud trends including:
- Mule account abuse
- Account takeovers
- Social engineering scams
- Synthetic identity fraud
- UPI/payment fraud patterns
- Collaborate with Product, Risk, and Tech teams for preventive control enhancements.
7. Regulatory Audit & Compliance Management
- Lead AML/CFT audits including:
- PMLA audits
- Internal audits
- Regulatory inspections
- Concurrent audits
- Drive closure of audit observations and remediation plans within agreed timelines.
- Maintain AML documentation, evidence repositories, and compliance records.
8. Stakeholder & LEA Coordination
- Coordinate with:
- Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs)
- Cyber cells
- RBI/NPCI/FIU stakeholders
- Banking partners
- Support investigations, information requests, freezing/debit freeze instructions, and regulatory escalations.
- Work closely with internal Product, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and Risk teams.
9. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead and mentor AML/Fraud operations team.
- Drive capability enhancement through:
- Training
- Typology workshops
- Regulatory awareness sessions
- Investigation quality reviews
- Build a strong culture of compliance, accountability, and proactive risk management.
