Position - Mechanical Design Engineer / Designer

Business Unit: Power Business Unit (PBU)
Work Location: Chennai

Experience: 8 to 15 Years
Qualification: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with skilled certifications/ accreditations.

Job Description:

- Prepare Mechanical design meeting quality and schedule requirements.
- Adhere to established design guidelines and procedures.
- Analyze design issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform design analysis and calculations according to project requirements.
- Determine construction cost and material estimates based on the designs.




- Review project plan and determine the design feasibilities and constraints.
- Use latest software and technologies to develop effective designs.
- Maintain accurate design files for reference purposes.
- Consider health, safety and environmental requirements when developing the designs.
- Manage design projects within allotted timelines and MHs.
- Stay abreast with the latest developments with relevant design fields.
- Ensure compliance with QMS requirements.
- Provide assistance to senior design team members.

Skills Required:

- Good working knowledge on design of mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Firefighting) for substations, industries, and plants from concept design to construction drawings. Working knowledge on power department functions w.r.t construction in coordination with other engineering disciplines.
- Experience in preparing basis of design, engineering alternative solutions, BOQs, heat load, static head, pump head, pipe sizing calculations, space planning, mechanical room design, sizing & selection, design complete system air side, water side and DX-systems etc.
- Familiar with relevant codes & standards ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, AIA & HTM codes, International Building Code (IBC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Regional Standards, Quality and Metrology Organization (SASO), Saudi Building Code (SBC) etc.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of design software HAP & Elite heat load calculations, Building Designer, MicroStation, AutoCAD etc. Fair understanding of 3D tools, 3D modelling and DMS.
- Be passionate about mechanical systems and the power environment. Be a creative leader in design and project management. Have excellent technical skills and be able to mentor staff in their own development and the development of projects.
- Good communication skills, both in presentation and documentation with a good command over English.
