Cloud Architect

Role Overview

Looking for a Senior Cloud Architect with deep hands-on expertise in designing and implementing cloud-native architectures across Azure/AWS. This role requires strong engineering depth in distributed systems, networking, security, and automation, along with the ability to lead complex cloud transformations.

Core Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

- Design cloud-native, microservices-based architectures using containers and serverless patterns
- Architect event-driven systems using services like Kafka, Event Hub, SNS/SQS
- Define reference architectures and reusable patterns (API-first, domain-driven design)
- Design multi-region, highly available systems with DR strategies (RPO/RTO driven)

Cloud Platform Engineering

- Deep hands-on with:
- Compute: VMSS/EC2, App Services, Kubernetes (AKS/EKS/GKE)
- Storage: Blob/S3, managed DBs (SQL, NoSQL Cosmos DB, DynamoDB)
- Networking: VNet/VPC, Subnets, NSG/Security Groups, Private Endpoints, DNS, Load Balancers, API Gateway

- Design and implement secure landing zones and enterprise-scale cloud environments

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

- Build and manage infra using:
- Terraform / Bicep / ARM / CloudFormation

- Implement GitOps workflows and reusable modules
- Develop CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions / Jenkins
- Automate environment provisioning, scaling, and patching

Containers & Kubernetes

- Design and manage Kubernetes clusters (AKS/EKS)
- Implement Helm charts, ingress controllers, service mesh (Istio / Linkerd)
- Optimize pod scaling, autoscaling, and cluster performance




- Work with container security (image scanning, runtime policies)

Security Engineering

- Implement Zero Trust architecture
- Configure IAM, RBAC, Managed Identities, Key Vault / Secrets Manager
- Integrate security tools (Defender for Cloud, GuardDuty, SIEM)
- Design secure network architectures (hub-spoke, private link, firewall)

Observability & Reliability

- Implement observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, ELK)
- Define SLI/SLO/SLA and reliability practices
- Perform performance tuning and root-cause analysis
- Enable distributed tracing and logging strategies

Cost & Performance Optimization

- Drive FinOps practices:
- Rightsizing resources
- Reserved/spot instances
- Storage tiering

- Optimize workloads for performance vs cost efficiency

Required Technical Skills

- 12+ years IT experience, with 57 years in cloud architecture (hands-on)
- Strong expertise in Azure (preferred) or AWS/GCP
- Proficiency in:
- Distributed systems design
- REST/gRPC APIs
- Messaging/event streaming systems
- Network architecture & security

- Hands-on coding/scripting:

- Python / PowerShell / Bash

- Experience with:

- Kubernetes (AKS preferred)
- Terraform (mandatory in most cases)
- CI/CD pipelines

Nice-to-Have Deep Tech Skills

- Service Mesh (Istio, Consul)
- API Management platforms
- Data platforms (Databricks, Big Data pipelines)
- AI/ML workloads on cloud
- Chaos engineering & resilience testing

Key Engineering Expectations

- Ability to review code, IaC, and architecture diagrams
- Guide teams on non-functional requirements (scalability, latency, security)
- Solve complex production issues in distributed systems
- Drive standardization and platform engineering practices

Certifications (Preferred)

- Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- AWS/GCP Qualified Architect
