Data Governance Expert

We are seeking a Data Governance Lead / Architect to design, implement, and operationalize a federated data governance framework for a Unified Data Platform on Google Cloud. The role will be responsible for enterprise-wide governance using Dataplex, including metadata management, data lineage, data quality, security governance, compliance, and domain-driven data ownership. The ideal candidate will have solid experience with GCP data platforms, governance frameworks, and telecom data domains.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Data Governance & Strategy

Design and implement enterprise-wide federated data governance frameworks.

Establish data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models across business domains.

Drive governance adoption through governance councils, architecture review boards, and stakeholder engagement.

Ensure alignment with TM Forum SID and enterprise data standards.

Dataplex Governance Implementation

Architect and manage Dataplex Lakes and Zones (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers).

Configure Dataplex as the central platform for metadata, lineage, governance, and policy management.

Implement domain-driven metadata tagging, classification, and cataloging frameworks.

Enable automated metadata discovery and enterprise data catalog capabilities.

Metadata Management & Business Glossary

Develop and maintain enterprise metadata repositories using Dataplex and Data Catalog.





Define standards for business metadata, ownership, stewardship, classification, retention, and governance policies.

Ensure consistency and discoverability of enterprise data assets.

Establish business glossaries and self-service data discovery capabilities.

Data Lineage & Traceability

Implement end-to-end lineage tracking across source systems, data lakes, warehouses, and reporting platforms.

Configure Dataplex Lineage APIs and lineage management frameworks.

Support regulatory audits, impact assessments, root cause analysis, and compliance reporting.

Maintain lineage documentation and version-controlled mapping artifacts.

Data Quality Governance

Define enterprise data quality frameworks, KPIs, standards, and governance processes.

Implement Dataplex Data Quality rules and automated validation mechanisms.

Establish quality gates across Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers.

Implement monitoring, alerting, remediation workflows, and governance dashboards.

Security & Access Governance

Define and implement RBAC and ABAC security models using IAM and Policy Tags.

Enforce least-privilege access and Zero Trust security principles.

Implement data protection controls including encryption, tokenization, masking,



CMEK/KMS, and VPC Service Controls.

Partner with security teams to ensure compliance and governance adherence.

Compliance & Regulatory Governance

Ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and local data privacy regulations.

Define data retention, archival, classification, and audit frameworks.

Support governance audits through lineage traceability and metadata completeness.

Develop governance reporting and compliance scorecards.

Governance Automation & Monitoring

Automate governance controls, policy enforcement, metadata management, and DQ monitoring.

Build governance dashboards for quality, usage, compliance, and policy adherence.

Implement alerts for data quality failures, security violations, and SLA breaches.

Stakeholder Management

Collaborate with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Business Teams, Architects, and Engineering teams.

Drive governance adoption and data ownership culture across the organization.

Conduct governance workshops, training sessions, and best practice initiatives.

Provide leadership for enterprise data governance transformation programs.

Preferred Skills:

TM Forum SID / Telecom Information Framework experience.

Telecom domain expertise across Customer, Billing, Usage, Product, and Network domains.

Experience with Collibra, Informatica, or other enterprise governance platforms.

Knowledge of Data Mesh, Data Products, and Domain-Driven Data Architectures.

Experience implementing governance frameworks in large-scale cloud data platforms.
