Head of India Operations

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and execution-driven Head of India Operations to lead and unify our India business operations. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring operational excellence across Talent Acquisition, HR, Legal, and General Operations while acting as the strategic execution arm of global leadership in India.

The ideal candidate is a strong operator with a general management mindset — someone who can translate vision into execution, establish scalable operational systems, drive accountability, and build a high-performance culture.

This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, operational rigor, people leadership, and cross-functional coordination in a fast-paced global environment.

Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership

- Lead and oversee all India-based operational functions including:
- Talent Acquisition (TAG)
- Human Resources
- Legal & Compliance
- General Operations

- Drive operational efficiency through process standardization, governance, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and monitor KPIs across functions to ensure measurable business outcomes.
- Build scalable systems and operational frameworks that reduce dependency on ad hoc execution.

Execution & Business Alignment
- Translate global leadership directives into actionable operational plans for India teams.
- Act as the primary bridge between India operations and global stakeholders.
- Ensure timely execution of priorities with clarity, accountability, and consistency.
- Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and operational gaps and implement corrective actions.

People & Culture Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop functional leaders across HR, TAG, Legal, and Operations.
- Foster a culture of ownership, transparency, collaboration,



and high performance.
- Handle escalations, conflict resolution, and performance management with maturity and fairness.
- Partner with HR on workforce planning, talent retention, and leadership development initiatives.

Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Indian labor laws, statutory regulations, and corporate governance requirements.
- Oversee contracts, vendor management, office administration, government filings, and legal documentation.
- Maintain operational readiness for audits and regulatory reviews.

Stakeholder Management
- Represent the organization in India with external stakeholders including vendors, consultants, partners, and regulatory bodies.
- Build strong working relationships that support operational continuity and business growth.

Qualifications & Experience
- 12–18+ years of experience in operations, business management, or cross-functional leadership roles.
- Minimum 4–5 years in a senior leadership capacity managing multiple business functions.
- Prior experience in founder-led, multinational, or fast-scaling environments preferred.
- Experience in roles such as:
- COO
- VP Operations
- Country Head
- Chief of Staff
- Business Operations Leader

- Strong understanding of India operational and compliance frameworks.
- Exposure to GCCs (Global Capability Centres) or India entity management is highly preferred.

- Build relationships with key stakeholders and assess operational maturity across functions.

- Establish governance rhythms, reporting structures, and leadership cadences.
- Improve visibility and communication with global leadership.

- Implement key process improvements and resolve major operational blockers.
- Drive stronger accountability across functions.

By 12 Months
- Build a stable, scalable, and high-performing India operations function.
- Become a trusted operational partner to global leadership.
