Under direct supervision, the ED / Observation Coder is responsible for accurate coding of professional services, including diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers from medical records in hospital, clinic, outpatient surgery center, urgent care, and emergency department settings. The role involves analyzing medical records and assigning ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes with appropriate modifiers.
Medical coding is performed in accordance with ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, CPT guidelines for skilled and surgical services, CMS updates, Coding Clinic articles published by the American Hospital Association, HCPCS guidelines, NCCI edits, LCD/NCD determinations, and client-specific coding guidelines.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in multispecialty Observation, Emergency Department (ED),
