Must-Have Skills

- Installation, configuration, upgrading, and patching of Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Administration of SQL Server databases in Production, UAT, and Development environments.
- Robust knowledge of SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.
- Expertise in Backup, Restore, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity planning.
- Performance monitoring, query optimization, and index tuning.
- Troubleshooting database performance issues and resolving bottlenecks.
- Extensive experience with SQL Server Replication, Log Shipping, and Clustering.
- Database security management, user access controls, and compliance implementation.
- Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SQL Agent jobs.
- Knowledge of Windows Server Administration related to SQL environments.
- PowerShell and T-SQL scripting experience.




- Experience with monitoring tools such as SCOM, SolarWinds, Redgate, or Dynatrace.

Good-to-Have Skills

- Azure SQL Database / Azure Managed Instance.
- SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
- Knowledge of AWS RDS SQL Server.
- DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code concepts.
- Experience with automation tools.

- Microsoft SQL certifications.

5. Responsibilities / Expectations from the Role

1. Manage and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
2. Perform database installations, upgrades, migrations, and patching activities.
3. Design and implement backup and recovery strategies.
4. Monitor database health and proactively resolve performance issues.
5. Configure and support HA/DR solutions such as Always On Availability Groups and Clustering.
6. Perform root cause analysis for production incidents and provide preventive measures.
7. Ensure database security, auditing, and compliance requirements are met.
8. Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams for database support activities.
9. Automate routine DBA tasks using PowerShell and T-SQL scripts.
10. Prepare operational reports, capacity planning forecasts, and technical documentation.
