Experience: 48 Years (Sheet Metal Manufacturing Industry Preferred)
Reporting To: NPD Manager / Engineering Head
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and result-oriented NPD Engineer / Sr. Engineer to
manage recent product development activities for sheet metal components and
assemblies. The candidate should have strong experience in product design, fixture
and trolley design, APQP/PPAP documentation, and project execution from customer
drawing receipt to production launch. Proficiency in UG NX and knowledge of sheet
metal manufacturing processes are essential. Typical NPD roles in manufacturing
involve end-to-end product development, design for manufacturability, tooling
coordination, APQP activities, and PPAP submission management.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Design
• Study customer drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
• Develop 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using UG NX.
• Design and develop:
o Manufacturing Fixtures
o Welding Fixtures
o Inspection Fixtures
o Material Handling Trolleys
o Press tool design
• Conduct feasibility studies and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews.
• Coordinate prototype development and validation activities.
NPD Project Management




• Handle new product development projects from RFQ to SOP (Start of
Production).

• Prepare and monitor project timelines to ensure on-time development.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Purchase, Tool Room, and Customer
teams.
• Support tooling development, trials, and process validation activities.
APQP / PPAP Documentation
• Prepare and maintain:
o APQP Documents
o PPAP Submission Packages
o Process Flow Diagram (PFD)
o PFMEA
o Control Plan
o BOM
o Engineering Change Documentation
• Coordinate customer approvals and PPAP submissions.
• Ensure compliance with customer and internal quality requirements. APQP
and PPAP ownership, documentation control, and launch readiness are core
responsibilities in NPD and automotive manufacturing environments.
Trial & Production Support
• Conduct prototype and production trials.
• Analyze trial results and implement corrective actions.
• Support production during new product launches.
• Ensure smooth transition from development stage to mass production.
Continuous Improvement
• Participate in value engineering and cost reduction initiatives.
• Improve product manufacturability and process efficiency.




• Maintain lessons learned and engineering change records.
Required Skills
Technical Skills
• Strong knowledge of UG NX CAD Software.

• Expertise in Sheet Metal Design and Development.
• Knowledge of:
o Laser Cutting
o Bending
o Welding
o Fabrication Processes
• Fixture and Trolley Design experience.
• GD&T; and Engineering Drawing Interpretation.
• APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, and Process Flow documentation.
• Knowledge of automotive quality systems and manufacturing standards.

Preferred Candidate Profile
• Experience in Automotive / Auto Component.
• Exposure to customer development projects and new product launches.

• Knowledge of IATF 16949 documentation requirements will be an added
advantage.
