About the Role

We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Azure Power BI Developer with 45 years of experience to join our Business Intelligence practice. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in building enterprise-grade Power BI solutions, semantic modeling, and storytelling through data backed by hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, and modern BI development practices.

You will work closely with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to design, develop, and deliver interactive dashboards and self-service analytics solutions that drive decision-making at scale.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and publish Power BI reports and dashboards for executive and operational audiences.
- Analyze business problems and determine the best way to apply BI capabilities to deliver effective, scalable solutions.
- Build and optimize Semantic Models (Datasets) using Direct Lake, DirectQuery, and Import
- Develop complex DAX measures and calculated columns for advanced analytics and KPIs.
- Design and implement Star Schema and composite models aligned to business domains.
- Build Power BI Dataflows Gen2 and integrate with Microsoft Fabric Lakehouses and Warehouses.
- Configure and manage Power BI workspaces, deployment pipelines, and row-level security (RLS).
- Integrate Power BI with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, ADLS Gen2, and Fabric OneLake.
- Optimize report performance through query folding, aggregations, and incremental refresh.
- Publish and manage content via Power BI Service, ensuring proper access controls and endorsement.
- Enable Copilot in Power BI for AI-assisted narrative and Q&A; capabilities.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to shape the Gold layer for optimal BI consumption.
- Document semantic models, report designs, and data lineage.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills





- 4-5 years of hands-on experience in Power BI development
- Strong proficiency in DAX (time intelligence, iterators, context transition, CALCULATE patterns).
- Solid understanding of semantic modeling relationships, hierarchies, calculation groups, field parameters.
- Hands-on experience with: Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Semantic Models), Power BI Desktop & Power BI Service, Power Query / M Language, Azure Synapse Analytics / Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
- Experience with Direct Lake mode and understanding of OneLake integration patterns.
- Proficiency in Python for data preparation, automation, and extending BI workflows.
- Familiarity with CI/CD for Power BI using Azure DevOps, PBIP format, and Tabular Editor or ALM Toolkit.
- Understanding of Power BI REST APIs and programmatic content management.
- Experience with data modeling techniques (star/snowflake schemas, dimensional modeling).

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

- Microsoft certifications such as PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) or DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer).
- Experience with Copilot in Power BI and AI-powered visuals.
- Exposure to Power BI Embedded or custom visual development.
- Experience with Power Apps for low-code integration and embedded BI scenarios.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Purview for data governance and lineage.
- Experience with Tabular Editor 3 for advanced semantic model development.
- Experience in enterprise BI migration projects (e.g., SSRS/Tableau to Power BI).
