To supervise and coordinate daily shop floor activities in the heavy fabrication unit, ensuring timely and quality production of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and other core industrial equipment as per ASME/API/IS standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate activities of welders, fitters, fabricators, riggers, and helpers on the shop floor.
- Execute the production schedule as per planning and priorities given by the Production In-Charge.
- Ensure compliance with welding procedures, fabrication drawings, and WPS/PQR as per customer requirements.
- Monitor fabrication activities like cutting, fit-up, welding, grinding, NDT clearance, and stage inspections.
- Maintain quality control and safety standards during all fabrication processes.
- Communicate effectively with the QA/QC, planning, design, and maintenance departments for smooth workflow.
- Maintain shift-wise progress reports and manpower utilization.
- Manage consumables and raw materials availability on the shop floor to avoid downtime.
- Guide and train junior staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and best practices.
- Identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements in production processes.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and 5S implementation in the fabrication area.




- Ensure shop safety aspects and workplace rules regulations.

Key Skills Competencies

- Knowledge of pressure vessel fabrication codes (ASME Sec VIII, TEMA, IS standards)
- Interpretation of fabrication drawings weld maps
- Understanding of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, SAW)
- Familiarity with NDT techniques and stage-wise inspections
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and MS Office.
- Leadership and team handling abilities
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to safety and quality
- Shop floor-based role with shift responsibilities (if applicable)
- Physically demanding and exposure to welding/fabrication environment

Educational Qualifications Experience

- Diploma / B.E. / B. Tech Mechanical Engineering or Fabrication Technology.
- 5 10 years in a similar role in a heavy fabrication unit.
