MTS SOFTWARE SYSTEM DESIGN ENGINEER
THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced Functional Safety Engineer with strong expertise in Automotive Functional Safety (ISO 26262) to drive the development of safety-critical software and firmware solutions. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with ISO 26262 throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements management, software architecture, safety analysis, tool qualification, and assessment support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define, manage, and maintain software safety requirements in compliance with ISO 26262.
- Develop and review software architecture and design to ensure adherence to functional safety requirements.
- Perform and support safety analyses, including:
- Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Dependent Failure Analysis (DFA)
- Freedom from Interference (FFI) analysis
- Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 software development processes and work products.
- Lead and support software tool qualification activities.
- SW Static analysis, MISRA C compliance & SW design to meet complexity metric
- Could able to create test specification to meet SW code coverage
- Design and develop low-level drivers, embedded software, and firmware for safety-critical applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement safety mechanisms and achieve safety goals.
- Interface with internal and external functional safety assessors and support safety audits and assessments.
- Drive root cause analysis, debugging, and resolution of complex software and system issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of functional safety processes, methodologies, and best practices
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ yrs of Experience in Automotive SoCs, Safety Islands, Drivers, BSP, or Firmware development.
- Knowledge of ASPICE and safety-critical software development methodologies.
- Experience with safety assessments and audits for up to ASIL-D compliant products.
- Having TUV Functional Safety certification
- Strong knowledge of Automotive Functional Safety (ISO 26262).
- Proven experience in safety-critical software development and embedded systems.
- Hands-on experience with safety analyses such as FMEA, DFA, FFI, and FTA.
- Experience in software tool qualification and confidence evaluation.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design, and requirements management.
- Experience in low-level driver and firmware development.
- Familiarity with automotive software development processes and standards.
- Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with experience working with assessors, customers, and cross-functional teams.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor s or Masters degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
