Within Corporate Markets, the Chemistry Solutions team is responsible Reaxys, our flagship chemistry research and data platform, alongside the data pipelines, knowledge graphs and AI services that power it. We give researchers powerful digital tools to tackle some of the biggest problems facing the world today.

About the Role:-

As Architect the Life sciences Domain, you will own the definition, development and evolution of our Chemistry Solutions technical roadmap, centred on Reaxys. You will work closely with our Lead Architect who sets the cross-domain architectural direction to ensure the Chemistry Domain aligns with enterprise standards while meeting the specific needs of chemistry research, data and AI. You will partner with customers, product, engineering and business stakeholders to guide and communicate critical architectural principles, and you will stay at the forefront of emerging technology from generative AI and large language models to knowledge graphs and cloud-native data platforms to identify and shape the next generation of chemistry solutions.

Responsibilities:-

- Own the Chemistry Domain architecture: define, document and evolve the technology strategy and roadmap Reaxys and our wider Chemistry Solutions,



aligned to business goals and to enterprise standards working closely with the Lead Architect Corporate Markets.

- Partner closely with the Lead Architect and fellow domain architects to provide consultancy, leadership and explicit communication, and to champion software engineering and architectural best practice across teams.

- Drive AI and data innovation: guide the responsible application of generative AI, large language models, machine learning and knowledge-graph technologies to chemistry data, search and discovery use cases.

- Provide design and architecture governance: review changes, development projects and technical evaluations, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable and cost-effective.

- Monitor domain health: track the design and operational health of the Chemistry Domain and write proposals to address risks, technical debt and emerging needs.

- Research and assess industry and technology advancements to identify to advance our technical capabilities and create new solutions in the chemistry space.

- Embed security and compliance: develop robust information-security and data-governance practices so we respond quickly and effectively to enterprise security issues.

- Lead troubleshooting: lead cross-functional teams to identify,



research and coordinate the resources needed to diagnose and resolve complex Chemistry Domain issues.

- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:-

- Significant experience in software, network or systems architecture, with a strong grasp of architectural design, patterns and governance.

- Good working knowledge of more than one programming language.

- Practical, current experience applying AI/ML technologies generative AI and large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, natural language processing, information retrieval or data mining ideally at scale.

- Solid working knowledge of several of: cloud-native and distributed architectures , microservices and APIs, large-scale data platforms and databases, knowledge graphs and linked data, semantic search, and high-performance or parallel processing.

- Familiarity with modern data and ML engineering practices such as CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, containerisation and MLOps.

- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, including communicating complex technical content to technical and non-technical audiences alike.

- A track record of contribution to complex technology projects in a global, matrixed environment.

- A natural ability to engage, influence and build relationships with stakeholders, teams and vendors across the business.

- A background or genuine interest in chemistry, life sciences or scientific data is highly desirable.
