Job Description: A Shift Engineer in a steel manufacturing power plant supervises shift operations (DCS, boiler, turbine, and BOP) to ensure productive, safe, and continuous power generation. Responsibilities include monitoring equipment parameters, managing startups/shutdowns, conducting preventive maintenance, enforcing safety protocols (PTW), and troubleshooting, while managing technicians to minimize breakdowns. Key Responsibilities

- Operational Control: Independently manage the power plant control room, specifically DCS, to control parameters for boilers, turbines, and turbines.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, statutory regulations, and safety protocols to prevent accidents, particularly concerning high-tension (HT/LT) systems.
- Equipment Maintenance: Plan and execute breakdown and preventive maintenance on motors, panels, and machinery to ensure uninterrupted power to the steel plant.
- Emergency Response: Lead the handling of equipment trips, emergency shutdowns, and startups.
- Reporting: Prepare shift reports, log operating parameters, and update maintenance records.




- Resource Management: Supervise technicians and operators, managing manpower for optimal performance.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Previous experience in a Captive Power Plant (CPP) within a steel, cement, or similar heavy industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in PLC/DCS systems, thorough knowledge of turbine and boiler operations, and troubleshooting skills.
- Leadership: Strong team management and decision-making capabilities in high-pressure situations.

Common Certifications

- Boiler Operation Engineer (BOE) certification is often preferred for mechanical roles.
