Tech Sales managers are responsible for the combined performance
of the team and for ensuring that everyone within their team reaches their
targets. They may set the targets themselves or receive them from the sales
director. They may also operate incentive schemes that motivate members of
their team to reach or exceed sales targets.
Tech Sales managers will usually be responsible for:
§ recruiting and
training tech sales staff;
§ supervising,
motivating and monitoring team performance;
§ allocating areas to Tech
sales Engineer;
§ setting
budgets/targets;
§ liaising with other
line managers;
§ reporting back to
senior managers;
§ liaising with
customers (which may include actual selling);
§ maintaining detailed
knowledge of the company’s products or services;
§ keeping abreast of
what competitors are doing.
§ Tech sales managers
may also be involved with product development, identification of current business
opportunities and the development of marketing strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Develops a business plan and
sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of company sales
goals and profitability.
- Responsible
for the performance and development of the Tech Sales Engineers
- Prepares
action plans by individuals as well as by team for effective search of
sales leads and prospects.
- Initiates
and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets.
- Assists
in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.
- Conducts
one-on-one review with all Tech Sales Engineers to build more effective communications,
to understand training and development needs, and to provide insight for
the improvement of Tech Sales Engineers sales and activity performance.
- Provides
timely feedback to senior management regarding performance.
- Provides
timely, accurate, competitive pricing on all completed prospect
applications submitted for pricing and approval, while striving to
maintain maximum profit margin.
