Company Description Dongwoo Surfacetech India Pvt Ltd is a 100% subsidiary of Dongwoo Surfacetech Korea, a leader in commercial heat treatment and industrial furnace manufacturing. The India operations have established a state-of-the-art commercial heat treatment shop and furnace manufacturing facility under one roof at Mappedu Village, Thiruvallur District, close to the Hyundai Motor India plant, serving both domestic and international markets. The facility focuses on heat treatment of automotive parts, particularly gears for Hyundai Motor India Ltd, with an installed capacity of approximately 30 tons of steel per day. A key specialty is carburizing followed by quenching in molten salt baths to minimize distortion. The company's strengths include roller hearth semi-continuous and batch-type gas carburizing furnaces, and gas carburizing with molten salt bath quenching, optimized for automobile transmission gears requiring accurate dimensional control.
Role Description The Senior Metallurgist will lead metallurgical process development, optimization, and quality assurance for commercial heat treatment operations and industrial furnace applications. This full-time hybrid role is based in Tiruvallur, with primary on-site responsibilities at the Mappedu facility and some work-from-home flexibility for analytical, documentation, and design-related tasks. Day-to-day activities include monitoring and controlling heat treatment parameters, analyzing metallurgical properties of treated components, conducting failure analysis,



and recommending corrective actions to improve performance and reduce distortion. The role will collaborate closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to enhance process reliability, support new product and furnace designs, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. The Senior Metallurgist will also prepare technical reports, support customer audits, and provide expert guidance on best practices in carburizing, quenching, and related metallurgical processes.
Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Metallurgy, with practical experience in heat treatment of steels and automotive components.
- Proficiency in Process Control, including monitoring, adjusting, and optimizing furnace and heat treatment parameters.
- Experience in Extractive Metallurgy and Leaching processes relevant to material properties and treatment behavior.
- Demonstrated ability in Failure Analysis, root cause investigation, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Hands-on experience with industrial furnaces, carburizing processes, and molten salt bath quenching is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with metallurgical testing methods (microstructure evaluation, hardness testing, mechanical testing) and relevant standards.
- Effective communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in automotive or heavy manufacturing
