Job Description: A Design Engineer for a chain manufacturing company conceptualizes, designs, and validates current chain products (e.g., roller, conveyor, engineered chains) and optimizes existing designs for performance and cost-effectiveness. Responsibilities include creating detailed 3D models/2D drawings using CAD, performing FEA, selecting materials, and overseeing manufacturing feasibility. Key Responsibilities

- Product Design & Development: Design current chains, sprockets, and attachments to meet client requirements and industry standards.
- CAD Modeling & Drafting: Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor) to create detailed manufacturing drawings and assemblies.
- Analysis & Simulation: Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate stress, fatigue, and durability of chain designs.
- Material Selection & Heat Treatment: Select appropriate steel grades and define heat treatment processes to meet strength, wear, and corrosion resistance specifications.
- Manufacturing Optimization: Work with production teams to optimize designs for manufacturability, reducing costs and material waste.
- Technical Documentation:



Maintain accurate engineering records, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), ECOs (Engineering Change Orders), and technical specifications.
- Testing & Validation: Conduct prototype testing to validate designs and make necessary improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably with power transmission components, fasteners, or conveyor systems.
- Software Proficiency: Solid proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) and simulation tools.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of CNC machining, heat treatment, and assembly processes.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to solve complex engineering problems and interpret FEA inputs.

Common Qualifications

- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ISO, ANSI, ASME).
- Excellent technical communication and documentation skills.
