Job Description: A Control Room Operator (CRO) for a Ferro Alloys unit within a steel manufacturing company is responsible for monitoring and controlling furnace operations, raw material handling, and auxiliary systems from a central control room. They ensure optimal production parameters, safety, and efficiency of processes like submerged arc furnaces (SAF) to produce materials such as Silico Manganese or Ferro Chrome. Key Responsibilities

- Furnace Monitoring & Control: Operate and manage furnaces, raw material charging, and auxiliary systems using PLC/DCS/SCADA interfaces to maintain reliable operating conditions.
- Process Optimization: Monitor and adjust critical process parameters, including temperature, power load, and electrode position, to ensure maximum yield and quality.
- Troubleshooting: React promptly to alarms, diagnose process abnormalities (e.g., kiln issues, feed losses, jams), and take corrective action to prevent downtime.
- Coordination: Communicate effectively with field operators for smooth start-up, shutdown, and changeover activities.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety norms, including Load-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures,



and handle hot metal/gases safely.
- Documentation: Record production data, maintain accurate logs of operations, and report on furnace performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: ITI, Diploma, or Degree (BSC/MSc) in Metallurgy, Electrical, or related technical field.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in control room operations, preferably in Ferro Alloys, Sponge Iron (DRI), or similar process plants.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in PLC-based control systems, SCADA, and computer applications.
- Industrial Knowledge: Understanding of furnace operations,raw material handling, and power optimization.
- Attitude: Ability to work in rotating shifts, maintain high focus under pressure, and work in a team.
