An ITGC (Information Technology General Controls) auditor is responsible for evaluating and assessing the effectiveness of an organization's IT controls to ensure the security, integrity, and availability of its information systems.
The ideal candidate for an ITGC auditor position should have a solid background in IT auditing, risk management, and information security. They should also possess excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A relevant certification such as CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) is often required for this role
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting risk assessments and identifying potential vulnerabilities in the organization's IT systems.
- Developing and implementing audit plans and procedures to evaluate the effectiveness of IT controls.
- Performing testing and analysis of IT controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Documenting audit findings and preparing reports for management review.
- Providing recommendations for improving IT controls and mitigating risks identified during the audit process.
- Collaborating with IT and business stakeholders to address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
- Staying current on emerging technologies, trends, and regulatory requirements in the IT audit field.
- Participating in internal and external audits as needed.
