A mold designer's job is to create and refine molds for manufacturing processes, ensuring that they are accurate and efficient. Their responsibilities include:

Preparing prints for all components with the correct dimensions and distributing them to the appropriate department for manufacturing
- Preparing specifications: Preparing mold specifications and checklists
- Preparing drawings: Preparing mold component drawings and assembly drawings
- Assisting: Assisting with product and tool development and the molding process
- Ensuring transition: Ensuring a smooth transition from design to development, testing, and production trial runs
- Checking programs: Checking that programs and tooling are correct
