22 East is a D2C women's western wear brand currently in pre-launch, with a finalized 10–15 SKU collection ready to move into fabric sourcing, sampling, and production. We're looking for someone to take full ownership of this process from fabric selection through to final production quality checks.
What you'll do
Fabric sourcing: Take our finalized designs and tech packs and source/select the right fabrics for each — this is the core of the role.
Manufacturer coordination: Liaise directly with manufacturers, communicate design intent clearly, and keep the production process on track.
Sampling: Own the entire sampling process end-to-end — from first sample through revisions to final sign-off.
Production quality oversight: Once production begins, review output against the original designs — checking fit, stitching, and overall quality — and flag/resolve issues with manufacturers as they come up.
Backup design support:
Be able to tweak or design one or two outfits if production doesn't go as planned for an existing design and an alternative is needed.
What we're looking for
Robust working knowledge of fabrics (composition, behavior, sourcing) and how to match them to design intent - Most important
Comfortable managing vendor relationships and communicating clearly with manufacturers
Sharp eye for quality — able to spot stitching, fit, and finishing issues against a reference design
Fashion design and Tech packs
Self-driven — able to own a process from fabric to final production without heavy hand-holding
Valuable to know We previously worked with a designer who wasn't able to help with fabric selection, which is part of why this role is scoped the way it is — fabric and production ownership matter more here than pure design output.
