What you will do – Reporting to the Head of training centre and working with Course In-charge and Programme Head to:
· Conduct skill-based and technical training for deck officers on various shipboard operations.
· Conduct simulator-based training and assessment for deck officers at different competence levels.
· Ensure the courses are delivered as per the course plan and timetable, based on the detailed teaching syllabus and lesson plan.
· Implement quality standards in the assigned courses.
· Prepare course documentation, including presentations, assessments and exercises. Incorporate current regulations, industry best practices and recent training material received. Upkeep of course material, e.g. handout, presentations, training videos, exercises, etc.
· Develop computer-based training modules.
· Handle non-compliances.
Identify and record all deficiencies related to training activities and initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities in consultation with Programme Head.
· Conduct verification and review of courses.
· Master mariner Class 1 COC from India or UK.
· Minimum 1 year command experience on a foreign going vessel. Preference for experience on:
· Parcel chemical/ Product tankers, or
· Bulk carriers with Great lakes/ ice or polar navigation/ Port Hedland experience.
· Experience on dual fuel vessels, ship operations, ship audits & inspections, ship repair, and teaching preferred.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Must have a passion for learning continuously, a desire to be in the teaching profession and should be interested in up-to-date teaching methodologies.
· Proficient in the use of computer and commonly used software programmes.
