Role Description This is a full time, on-site Soil Testing role based in Almora. The soil tester will collect soil samples from farm plots, prepare them for laboratory analysis, and perform tests to assess nutrient levels, pH, organic matter, and other key parameters that impact crop health.
The role involves documenting test results, preparing clear reports, and communicating findings and recommendations to agronomists, farmers, and internal stakeholders. The soil tester will help develop and refine testing procedures, maintain testing equipment, and ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Day-to-day work includes coordinating with field teams, supporting sustainable farming practices through evidence-based recommendations, and contributing to continuous improvement in soil management and crop quality.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess robust Analytical Skills to interpret soil test data and draw practical, actionable conclusions.
Candidates should possess Testing and Test Cases skills to plan, conduct, and validate soil analyses in a structured, repeatable manner.
Candidates should possess Software Testing and related technical skills where applicable, such as using laboratory or data analysis software to manage and verify test results.
Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to explain findings to farmers and colleagues in clear, accessible language.
Relevant qualifications such as a diploma or degree in Agriculture, Soil Science, Environmental Science, or a related field are beneficial.
Experience with soil sampling methods, basic lab equipment, and agricultural best practices is an advantage.
Attention to detail, ability to work on-site in field conditions, and commitment to sustainable agriculture are highly valued.
