Role & responsibilities
Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of press tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
Ensure tool availability to achieve uninterrupted production as per the production plan.
Monitor tool life and implement tool refurbishment and life extension activities.
Troubleshoot tooling issues and perform timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Tool Room teams for tool-related improvements.
Maintain tool history records, maintenance schedules, and tool inventory.
Ensure proper storage, identification, and handling of tools, dies, and fixtures.
Conduct root cause analysis for recurring tool failures and implement corrective actions.
Plan and manage spare parts and consumables required for tool maintenance.
Support recent tool trials, validation, and commissioning of current dies and fixtures.
Ensure dimensional accuracy of repaired tools through inspection and verification.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve tool life, reduce breakdowns, and optimize maintenance costs.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and 5S practices within the Tool Room.
Coordinate with external tool makers and vendors for major repairs and modifications.
Lead and develop the Tool Room maintenance team to achieve operational excellence.
Preferred candidate profile
Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Tool Engineering, Production, or a related discipline.
Hands-on experience in maintenance of stamping dies, progressive dies, transfer tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
Robust knowledge of press tooling, die assembly, die spotting, and troubleshooting techniques.
Experience in tool life monitoring, preventive maintenance, and breakdown analysis.
Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T;, and tooling layouts.
Knowledge of machining processes such as milling, grinding, EDM, wire-cut, and CNC machining will be an added advantage.
Familiarity with TPM, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices.
Strong leadership, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experience in IATF 16949 and automotive OEM/Tier-1 supplier environments is preferred.
