The Printed Circuit Board CAD Designer is responsible for the physical layout of printed circuit boards,
using Altium Designer. This includes the creation of current components, the design of board layer stack-up
and mechanical details, management of Bills of Materials, and the maintenance of the component
library. The designer is also responsible for creating and maintaining manufacturing drawings, creating
and issuing Engineering Change Notices (ECN), and developing packages used for quotation purposes.
The designer interfaces with engineers to understand circuit function and uses this information to
optimize component placement, board layout, and mechanical design. The designer may also assist with
component obsolescence issues and value engineering improvement initiatives, support the Electrical
Engineering team in the areas of board layout, Ecad library management, circuit board prototyping and
debug and test support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain, research and add components to Altium Vault.
Responsible for the PCB layout,
working closely with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
Work with Purchasing Dept and prototype vendors to build current designs.
Assist in prototype board debug and modification.
Perform and document component and PCB level testing for performance and compatibility.
Analog & Digital circuit understanding & troubleshooting.
Various analytical reporting as required.
Maintain regular attendance and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to follow all safety procedures.
Support Company continuous improvement initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
