Reports To: Director - Product Development

A. Current Product Development (NPD)
 Lead development of current BOPET film grades, including:
o Metallizable & metalized films
o Heat-sealable films
o Matte, Alox, coated, chemically treated films
o Specialty films (shrink films, label films, insulation-grade films, lamination films)
 Conduct feasibility studies, lab-scale trials, and pilot/industrial trials.
 Develop product specifications, quality standards, and application guidelines.
B. Process & Technology Improvement
 Improve film properties, such as:
o Tensile strength, haze/clarity, COF, WVTR, OTR, surface energy
 Optimize polymer formulations, masterbatch usage, and additives.
 Enhance process parameters (extrusion, stretching, heat setting, coating).
 Lead automation, modernization, and digitalization initiatives in R&D.;
C. Technical Support & Troubleshooting
 Resolve plant-level technical issues: gels, thickness variation, breakage, haze, pinholes, coating
adhesion, printability problems, etc.
 Provide technical support to:
o Production
o Quality Assurance
o Sales & Marketing
o Customer Technical Service (CTS)

D. Customer & Market Interaction





 Collaborate with key customers on product development and certification.
 Evaluate customer feedback and lead corrective actions for quality issues.
 Track global trends in versatile packaging, sustainability, and recycling.
E. Compliance & Documentation
 Ensure compliance with:
o ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FDA/EU food-contact regulations
o REACH, RoHS, sustainability norms
 Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, product specs, and test protocols.
F. Team Leadership & Management
 Manage a multidisciplinary R&D; team (polymer engineers, chemists, process specialists).
 Conduct training on materials, coatings, additives, and testing techniques.
 Oversee R&D; budget, lab equipment procurement, and CAPEX proposals.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
 M.Tech / M.Sc / PhD in:
o Polymer Science
o Chemical Engineering
o Materials Engineering
o Plastics Technology (e.g., CIPET)

Experience
 15–25 years of experience in polyester film industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
o BOPET film production
o Coating & metallizing
o Polymer formulation
o Application development in packaging industry
