Role: Mainframe Application Developer

Technology Stack: Mainframe DB2, Enterprise COBOL, JCL, IBM z/OS

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe COBOL Developer with solid expertise in IBM Mainframe application development and support. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with COBOL programming, JCL, DB2, and mainframe technologies, along with the ability to develop, enhance, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise-level applications.

The role involves application development, production support, performance optimization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable mainframe solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain COBOL-based applications on IBM Mainframe (z/OS).
Develop, modify, and optimize JCL scripts for batch processing and job scheduling.
Work extensively with:
DB2 for data storage and retrieval
IMS databases
VSAM files
Develop and maintain CICS transaction processing applications .
Perform code reviews, debugging, performance tuning, and system optimization.
Support mainframe modernization initiatives, including integration with distributed systems.




Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
Collaborate with business analysts, system architects, QA teams, and other stakeholders.
Provide production support, including:
Incident management
Root cause analysis
Defect resolution and bug fixes
Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance on mainframe development best practices.

Required Skills & Experience
4–6 years of experience in IBM Mainframe application development.
Solid hands-on experience with:
Enterprise COBOL (System Z)
JCL (System Z)
Mainframe DB2 Application Development
Experience working on IBM z/OS environments.
Knowledge of CICS transaction processing.
Experience with IMS and VSAM is preferred.
Solid debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Experience in production support and application maintenance.
