POSITION OVERVIEW

The Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for supplier development, cost optimization, contract negotiation, and sourcing strategy across key commodities, ensuring uninterrupted supply to support global business objectives. The role works closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to build a resilient, cost-competitive supply base.

The ideal candidate brings solid strategic sourcing and procurement experience with deep expertise in Castings (Investment and Die Casting), Machined Components, Stamping, Hardware, and Springs. The role partners across NPD, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Program Management within a global manufacturing workplace.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement sourcing strategies across castings (investment and die), machined components, stamping, hardware, and springs.
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, and lead RFQ/RFP and supplier selection activities.




Conduct supplier benchmarking and market analysis, and drive supplier consolidation and localization initiatives.
Lead commercial negotiations and cost-optimization projects, including should-cost and cost-breakdown analysis.
Monitor commodity market trends and raw-material price fluctuations to guide sourcing decisions.
Build strong supplier relationships and conduct performance reviews across quality, delivery, cost, and service.
Support supplier development programs, resolve supplier issues, and escalate critical concerns as required.
Partner with NPD, Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Program Management on recent product development and product-transfer projects, while assessing and mitigating supply-chain risks.
