AECOM is seeking a Field Engineer Transmission Substation with Hybrid Renewable Energy Integration for PMC role to act as the Owner s Representative at site, responsible for supervision, coordination, and quality assurance of EHV transmission lines, GIS/AIS substations, and renewable evacuation infrastructure (solar, wind, and BESS systems).
The role ensures that EPC contractors deliver works in compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, HSE requirements, and project schedules, while maintaining strong coordination across Electrical, Civil, IC, QA/QC, and HSE disciplines.
Core strength lies in site execution oversight, engineering validation, and multidisciplinary coordination, ensuring seamless delivery of transmission, substation, and hybrid renewable energy projects. The role contributes to achieving project objectives in terms of quality, safety, schedule, and regulatory compliance, consistent with AECOM s global standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Supervision PMC Oversight
- Supervise construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of substations (AIS/GIS), transmission lines, and hybrid renewable evacuation systems (33kV 765kV).
- Ensure adherence to approved drawings, specifications, QAP/FQP, and construction methodologies.
- Monitor project progress against L2/L3 schedules, identify risks/delays, and support corrective actions in coordination with Project Controls.
- Maintain daily/weekly progress reports, site documentation, and compliance records.
2. Transmission Line Execution
- Oversee survey, tower spotting, foundation works (including stub setting), tower erection, and stringing activities.
- Supervise OPGW installation, sag-tensioning, and alignment with approved profiles and clearances.
- Coordinate ROW issues, statutory approvals, and stakeholder interfaces.
- Ensure compliance with technical standards and quality benchmarks for line construction.
3. Substation (GIS/AIS) Execution
- Supervise installation and commissioning of:
- Power transformers and reactors
- GIS/AIS switchgear, bus systems, and auxiliary equipment
- Protection, control, SCADA/SAS, and metering systems
- Ensure proper implementation of earthing, lightning protection, and cable systems.
- Witness pre-commissioning checks, functional testing, and energization activities.
4. Hybrid Renewable Energy Integration (Solar/Wind/BESS)
- Coordinate grid integration of solar PV plants, wind farms,
and hybrid systems.
- Supervise pooling substations, step-up transformers, and MV/HV cable systems.
- Support synchronization, grid compliance, and performance validation of renewable assets.
5. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Supervise installation and commissioning of containerized BESS systems, including:
- Battery modules, PCS, transformers, and EMS/SCADA
- HVAC systems and fire detection suppression systems
- Monitor system parameters such as DoD, SOH, RTE, and auxiliary consumption.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.
6. HVDC Advanced Grid Systems
- Support site execution and coordination for HVDC converter stations, including converter transformers, valves, and control systems.
- Assist in integration of STATCOM, PMU/WAMS, and digital substation technologies.
- Coordinate with OEM specialists during installation and commissioning.
7. Engineering Review Technical Compliance
- Review and validate vendor drawings, BOQs, layouts, and technical submissions.
- Ensure compliance with CEA/CTU/STU regulations, IS/IEC standards, and Grid Code requirements.
- Verify constructability and alignment of site execution with approved design.
8. Quality Assurance Control (QA/QC)
- Implement and monitor QAP, FQP, and ITP requirements.
- Witness and document FAT, SAT, and routine tests.
- Raise and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure timely closure.
- Verify as-built drawings and final documentation for handover.
9. Health, Safety Environmental (HSE)
- Enforce zero-harm safety culture aligned with AECOM and client standards.
- Conduct safety inspections, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems, LOTO procedures, and PPE usage.
- Support incident reporting and corrective action implementation.
10. Interface Management Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the interface between Owner, EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants, EPC/Agencies, and utilities.
- Coordinate across Electrical, Civil, and IC disciplines to resolve site issues.
- Facilitate inspections,
approvals, and statutory clearances.
Experience Technical Competencies
- Proven experience in design and drawing review of GIS substations and EHV XLPE cable systems, preferably within PMC/Owner s Engineer environments.
- Solid understanding of up to 132kV 765kV GIS/AIS substations, including layouts, clearances, and equipment interfaces.
- In-depth knowledge of EHV cable systems, including cable sealing ends, routing, jointing, and thermal performance.
- Sound fundamentals in transmission line engineering, including lattice and monopole towers, foundation systems, profiling, and sag-tension principles.
- Hands-on capability in reviewing SLDs, layouts, BOQs, cable schedules, earthing layouts, and interface drawings.
- Experience in technical bid evaluation (TBE), tendering processes, and vendor/OEM coordination.
- Familiarity with protection systems, SCADA/SAS, and grid compliance requirements.
- Exposure to QA/QC processes (ITP, FAT, SAT) and HSE practices in construction environments.
- Strong multidisciplinary coordination and interface management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
Tools Systems
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6 / MS Project
- Familiarity with site reporting and digital monitoring tools

Education
- Bachelor s Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Electrical / Civil / Instrumentation / Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- Minimum 8+ years in EHV transmission lines and substations (up to 765kV / HVDC)
- Experience in renewable energy projects (Solar/Wind/BESS integration) is highly desirable
