Job DescriptionPosition Title: Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor NDepartment: Architecture NReporting To: Dean, Faculty of Architecture & Planning NLocation: Vadodara, Gujarat NEmployment Type: Full-time (Regular) NRole OverviewnFaculty in the Department of Architecture are expected to contribute across the domains of teaching, research, professional engagement, institutional development, and administrative accountability. The roles expand in depth and leadership as one rises from Assistant to Associate to full Professor. Faculty should strive to be active scholars, mentors, and institutional contributors in alignment with CoA, UGC, and University standards. NA. Assistant Professor NTeaching & Academic Delivery NTeach undergraduate and possibly postgraduate modules: design studios, theory, technology. NPrepare detailed teachingplans, course outlines, learning outcomes, student assessments. NInteract proactively withenrolled students (pre-course meetings, regular check-ins). NEnsure submission of grades, feedback, and course reports within stipulated timeframes. NResearch & Scholarly Engagement NParticipate in institutional research or collaborative projects. NPublish papers, present at conferences, assist senior faculty in grant proposals. NEngage in design competitions or community design exposure. NOperational & Institutional Tasks NContribute to administration of academic events (workshops, exhibitions, juries). NManage budgets for special courses (e.G. summer, travel studio), prepare advance and expense documentation. NTake responsibility for logistical needs: arranging site visits, travel, accommodation, procurement. NSupport accreditation efforts (NAAC, NIRF, CoA) by providing documentation or evidence. NParticipate in departmental committees, curriculum review, and student mentorship. NConsultancy Cell Projects NIdentify and assist in bidding for tenders, research projects, related to urban and regional planning. NB.
Associate Professor NTeaching & Academic Leadership NLead design studios and theory/advanced modules with pedagogical innovation. NDesign/update curricula and mentor junior colleagues in teaching methods. NSupervise major student projects and postgraduate research work. NResearch & ProjectsnLead research initiatives, secure external funding, and publish in high-impact forums. NOversee consultancy or applied design projects in collaboration with government, industry, or Ncommunities.nMentor junior faculty/research scholars in writing proposals, methodology, publications. NInstitutional & Administrative Leadership NServe on key committees: academic planning, policy, quality assurance, MoU, industry collaborations. NLead or organize conferences, symposia, guest lectures, and outreach programs. NOversee or coordinate outreach, community design interventions, or continuing education programs. NUndertake periodic reviews of courses, pedagogy, and program outcomes. NOperational Accountability NPrepare and monitor budgets for departmental / course initiatives. NEnsure compliance of expenses, reimbursements, and audit requirements. NProvide leadership in departmental coordination, resource planning, and faculty development. NC. ProfessornVision & Academic Leadership NChart long-term academic strategy, lead curriculum transformation and institutional visioning. NMentor entire faculty cohorts and oversee their scholarly growth. NGuide doctoral and high-level interdisciplinary research programs. NHigh Impact Research & Consultancy NLead large-scale, funded research and design projects with institutional visibility. NPublish monographs, lead international collaborations, serve on editorial boards.
NLead policy advisory roles, design commissions, and national/ international academic bodies. NInstitutional Governance & External Relations NAdvise on university-level academic policies, partner institutions, and strategic direction. NLead accreditation, audits, compliance, and institutional reputation initiatives. NRepresent the institutionin academic forums, government agencies, and professional bodies. NAdministrative & Financial Oversight NApprove, monitor, and report budgets for departmental and institute-level initiatives. NEnsure financial and operational compliance, audits, and accountability. NOversee major institutional projects, infrastructure planning, and resource mobilization. NFoster industry partnerships, alumni networks, public engagement, and institutional branding. NAssistant ProfessornB.Arch. with 60% + 3 years relevant experience OR B.Arch. + M.Arch. with 60% + 1 year experience N1–3 years (teaching / professional) NAssociate ProfessornB.Arch. + M.Arch. (or allied) with 60% at either level 8 years (teaching/research/profession), including 3years full-time teaching OR 13 years qualified NProfessornB.Arch.+ M.Arch. (or allied) with 60% at either level; PhD preferred 14 years (teaching/research/profession), including 5 years as a full-time teacher OR 19 years NprofessionalnNote: Must be a Registered Architect with the Council of Architecture, and experience is counted after registration. NDesirable Skills & Attributes NAdvanced design, analytical, and critical thinking ability. NProficiency in architecture/design software (CAD/ SketchUp/ Revit/ Rhino/ Adobe Suite/ GIS, etc.).
