Job DescriptionJob Description NMental Health Counselor /Student Wellness Counselor NSanjivani Group of Institutes & Sanjivani University NLocation: Kopargaon, Maharashtra NReports To: HAG & CHRO NPosition SummarynSanjivani Group of Institutes invites applications for the position of Mental Health Counselor to promote the psychological well-being of students and employees across its diverse educational ecosystem, including Engineering, Polytechnic, Pharmacy, Management, Commerce, Computer Applications, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programmes. NThe Counselor will provide confidential psychological counseling, crisis intervention, preventive mental health programmes, and emotional wellness initiatives while fostering a healthy, inclusive, and supportive campus setting. The role also extends to promoting employee mental well-being through awareness programmes, counseling support, and stress management initiatives. NKey Responsibilitiesn1. Student Counseling Services Nn Provide confidential individual counseling to students experiencing: N Academic stressn Anxiety and depression N Relationship concerns N Family issuesn Emotional distress N Self-esteem concerns N Examination stressn Adjustment to campus life N Career uncertaintyn Homesickness N Substance misuse concerns N Conduct intake assessments and maintain confidential counseling records. N Develop individualized support and intervention plans. N Monitor student progress through scheduled follow-up sessions. Nn2. Crisis Intervention & Risk Management Nn Provide immediatepsychological support during crises. N Assess and manage students at risk of self-harm or suicide. N Coordinate with parents, medical professionals, and institutional authorities during emergencies.
N Maintain crisis response protocols in collaboration with the Medical Officer, Hostel Wardens, and Security Department. N Refer cases requiring psychiatric intervention to qualified mental health specialists. Nn3. Preventive Mental Health Programmes NDesign and conduct regular awareness programmes on: Nn Stress Management N Emotional Intelligence N Time Managementn Examination Anxiety N Building Resilience N Positive Psychology N Healthy Relationships N Digital Well-beingn Social Media Addiction N Substance Abuse Prevention N Anger ManagementnMindfulness and Meditation N Sleep Hygienen Life Skills Development Nn4. Employee MentalWell-being NProvide wellness support for teaching and non-teaching staff through: Nn Individual counseling (where appropriate) N Stress and burnout management N Work-life balance workshops N Emotional resilience programmes N Faculty well-being initiatives N Psychological first aidafter critical incidents N Awareness on workplace mental health Nn5. Student Outreach & Engagement Nn Conduct orientation sessions for newly admitted students. N Promote awareness regarding available counseling services. N Organize Mental Health Week, Wellness Month, and awareness campaigns. N Encourage help-seeking behaviour and reduce stigma associated with mental health.
N Develop self-help resources and wellness materials. Nn6. Collaboration with Academic Departments NWork closely with: Nn PrincipalsnDeans N Heads of Departments N Faculty Mentorsn Class Teachers N Hostel Wardensn NSS/NCC Coordinators N Anti-Ragging Committee N Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) N Student Development Cell N Placement Celln Nto identify students requiring timely psychological support. N7. Parent Engagementn N Conduct counseling sessions involving parents whenever appropriate. N Guide parents in supporting students facing emotional or behavioural challenges. N Maintain professional communication while respecting confidentiality and ethical standards. Nn8. Training & Capacity Building NDevelop and deliver training programmes for faculty, mentors, wardens, and student leaders on: Nn Early identification of mental health concerns N Psychological first aid N Active listeningnStudent mentoring N Suicide preventionn Referral mechanisms N Creating psychologically safe classrooms Nn9. Documentation &Reporting; Nn Maintain confidential counseling records. N Prepare monthly reportson: N Number of counseling sessions N Wellness programmes conducted N Student participation N Emerging mental health trends N Ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards regarding confidentiality and record management.
