About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Australian Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll operations for Australian clients. The ideal candidate should have solid knowledge of Australian payroll regulations, payroll taxes, superannuation, employee contracts, and payroll software such as Xero and Employment Hero.

Key Responsibilities

- Process end-to-end Australian payroll accurately and within deadlines.
- Manage payroll setup, employee onboarding, and payroll maintenance.
- Calculate and process employee wages, salaries, allowances, deductions, and leave entitlements.
- Administer and reconcile Superannuation contributions.
- Manage Work-Cover obligations, including registrations, declarations, and Work-Cover premium payments.
- Interpret applicable Award rates and apply correct pay rates accurately in each pay run.
- Review and validate timesheet approvals and accurately calculate hours worked for processing in the pay run.
- Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation and Fair Work requirements.
- Manage and lodge Payroll Tax obligations across applicable Australian states.
- Review and maintain employee contracts and payroll-related documentation.
- Process employee terminations, final settlements, and leave payouts.
- Handle payroll reconciliations and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Coordinate with HR, Finance, Operations, and client stakeholders for payroll-related matters.




- Generate payroll reports and provide payroll-related insights to management.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and payroll information.
- Ensure compliance with client-specific payroll policies

Preferred candidate profile

- 37 years of payroll experience, preferably handling Australian payroll.
- Strong understanding of:

Australian Payroll Processing

– Superannuation

– Payroll Tax

– WorkCover and WorkCover Payments

– Award Rates and Accurate Pay Rate Application

– Timesheet Approvals and Calculation of Hours Worked in Pay Runs

– Employee Contracts & Employment Regulations

– Leave Entitlements and Termination Payments

- Hands-on experience with:

– Xero

– Employment Hero or a similar payroll system

- Good understanding of payroll reconciliations and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple departments and clients.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage multiple payroll cycles and deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience working with Australian accounting firms, payroll bureaus, or shared service centres.
- Exposure to outsourced payroll operations for multiple Australian clients.
