Job Description Economic Analyst

Experience: 3-12 years

1. Role Purpose

To support the Automotive Economics Demand Foresight function by contributing to short- and long-term demand forecasting, macro/micro economic analysis, behavioral economic research, and business environment scanning for senior management.

The role will collaborate directly with the Senior Economist, assisting in delivering the companys core economic outputs across research, forecasting and insights.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Market Economic Analysis

- Analyse macroeconomic indicators (GDP, inflation, interest rates, liquidity, employment, etc.).
- Track high and low frequency indicators to a certain health rural and urban discretionary demand.
- Analyse the dynamics in geopolitical climate and its impact on economic health.

B. Demand Forecasting Support

- Support in Demand Forecasting using appropriate computational econometrics models/ Machine Learning/ through household income studies.
- Delivering insights from forecasting study

C. Industry Competition Monitoring

- Track SIAM VAHAN sales volumes, segmentation trends, exports, and competitive behaviour.
- Prepare inputs for Export Scoreboard.
- Support pre-event briefs for SIAM,



investor calls, and policy meetings.

D. Knowledge Hub Maintenance

- Organize and maintain the internal Knowledge Hub Auto Economics repository.
- Update it with recent data releases, research papers, policy updates, industry reports.

3. Required Skills Competencies

- Conduct exploratory analysis on household income, state/district-level indicators etc.
- Familiarity with forecasting models: Computational Econometrics and Machine Learning.
- Proficiency working with data in Excel; Competent in using R.
- Ability to create dashboards, charts, and analytical visuals.
- Exposure to government/official data systems (CSO, RBI, IMF, etc.) is preferred.

4. Education Experience

- Master s degree in Economics / Econometrics / Statistics / Data Science.
- 3 12 years of analytical experience (preferably in automobile industry, consulting, or research institutions).
