The Opportunity

We are seeking a high-calibre Associate General Counsel to join their growing delivery network in India. This is a strategic leadership position where you will shape commercial outcomes, manage complex cross-border risk, and build a world-class legal function.

Must-Have: Law Firm Foundation

Candidates must have a significant track record of practice within a reputable, top-tier law firm (international or leading domestic). This can be as a standalone career history or combined with subsequent in-house experience. We will not consider candidates without this foundational training.

Key Responsibilities

(What you will own and drive)

- Strategic Commercial Partnering: Lead complex contract negotiations for high-value client engagements, ensuring deals are structured to maximize business growth while protecting the firm.
- Risk & Compliance Leadership: Act as the subject matter expert on regulatory and compliance matters across multiple jurisdictions, providing proactive, solution-oriented advice to senior leadership.
- Team Development: Mentor, manage, and scale a team of legal professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, agility, and continuous improvement.
- Operational Efficiency: Drive the digitization and automation of legal workflows, moving the function from reactive to predictive and scalable.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with delivery teams, sales,



and finance to align legal strategy with overall business objectives.

The Ideal Candidate

(What we are looking for)

- Law Firm Pedigree (Non-Negotiable): You have spent a significant portion of your career at a reputable, top-tier law firm (international or leading domestic), where you developed exceptional drafting, negotiation, and technical legal skills. This experience can be in addition to, or combined with, in-house experience.
- Qualifications: Qualified lawyer with a degree in Law and [X]+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Commercial Mindset: You possess strong business acumen and can translate complex legal risks into clear, actionable business recommendations.
- Global Exposure: Demonstrated experience handling cross-border transactions, international data privacy laws, and multi-jurisdictional regulatory frameworks is highly desirable.
- Leadership Skills: Proven track record of managing and developing high-performing legal teams (or transparent potential to step into this).
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust with senior stakeholders globally.
