Position Summary
The Consulting Application Engineer (MS 365) leads the architecture, design, and enterprise integration of Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Power Platform solutions for one of the largest healthcare organizations in the United States. This role operates with minimal supervision and is accountable for driving platform strategy, governance, and long-term technology direction.

This position provides enterprise-level operational oversight and architectural leadership for SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and the Power Platform. The Consulting Engineer mentors senior engineers, leads complex cross-functional initiatives, and ensures alignment between business objectives and technology solutions.

The role is responsible for end-to-end ownership of SharePoint and Microsoft 365 platforms, including administration, search architecture, solution design, development, R&D;, infrastructure strategy, and production support. This individual defines governance models, leads architectural planning, and drives adoption of future platform capabilities.

The Consulting Engineer demonstrates advanced analytical and design capabilities, a high degree of innovation, and deep understanding of the business impact of technical decisions. This role influences enterprise standards, drives strategic initiatives, and ensures delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. Strong leadership, executive communication, and organizational influence are essential.

Major Responsibilities:

Administration / Development and Growth

- Define enterprise architecture, governance frameworks, and standards for SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and Power Platform
- Lead Sharepoint Advanced Management including administration, tenant configuration, site architecture, and lifecycle management
- Drive enterprise search strategy and implementation (connectors, indexing, relevance tuning, cross-platform search)
- Architect and oversee data integration across SharePoint, SQL, Dataverse, and external systems within Power Platform solutions
- Evaluate and implement Copilot use cases to enhance productivity, content discovery, and process automation
- Define platform strategy and assess suitability of SharePoint Online and Power Platform for enterprise solutions
- Oversee platform health, scalability, performance, and service reliability
- Enforce data security, compliance, and information protection standards aligned with enterprise policies
- Lead performance optimization, monitoring, and capacity planning using native tools, PowerShell, and third-party solutions
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable, enterprise-grade solutions
- Drive digital workplace and content management strategies to improve engagement and adoption
- Establish reusable design patterns, frameworks, and engineering best practices
- Serve as a strategic technical advisor to leadership on M365, SharePoint Online, and Power Platform
- Lead and mentor engineering teams to ensure architectural consistency and delivery excellence
- Drive innovation through R&D;, proof-of-concepts, and adoption of emerging Microsoft technologies




- Govern the full application lifecycle from design through deployment and ongoing support
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and business teams to align platform capabilities with enterprise goals
- Oversee production support, incident response, and root cause analysis
- Lead resolution of complex issues and implement preventative reliability improvements
- Own platform roadmap, upgrade strategy, and continuous evolution
- Manage enterprise communications for releases, changes, incidents, and outages
- Lead critical incident management, including executive-level escalations and communications

Relationship Management

Provide leadership team with a periodic analysis of application health and adoption based on metrics and user feedback.

Serve as advocate for the end user community in the prioritization of enhancements and defect corrections.

Manage the software deployment pipeline to the degree required by managed business lines.

Continuously analyze internal processes, procedures, and workflows to identify service gaps and / or waste.

Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to improve client satisfaction and efficiency.

Evaluate and recommend new technologies that have the potential to improve the service experience.

Manage vendor relationships and establish governance council with internal and external stakeholders

Education & Experience:

- Bachelor's degree

7+ years of experience in product development environment

Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Must Have Skills

- Deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft 365 stack: SharePoint Online, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
- Strong SharePoint administration: site collections, permissions, governance, content management
- Enterprise search configuration (Microsoft Search / SharePoint Search, connectors, indexing, tuning)
- Power Platform development: building apps, automations, and integrating data sources (SharePoint, SQL, Dataverse)
- Experience with governance frameworks, security, and compliance (Information Protection, data security controls)
- PowerShell scripting for administration, automation, and monitoring
- Experience with third-party M365 tools (e.g., ShareGate)
- Application lifecycle management (ALM): design, build, test, deploy, maintain
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis across M365 workloads
- Performance monitoring and optimization of M365/SharePoint environments
- Strong systems integration experience across cloud and hybrid environments
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills

Nice to Have Skills

- Experience with Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365, including understanding of its integration with SharePoint, and the Power Platform
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, including data governance, compliance management, information protection, and risk mitigation capabilities across Microsoft 365 environments
- SharePoint Framework (SPFx) development
- Azure services integration (Azure AD, Logic Apps, Functions)
- Experience with Microsoft Graph API
- DevOps / CI-CD pipelines for M365 (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
- Experience in large-scale enterprise or healthcare environments
- Data analytics and reporting experience with Power BI (beyond basic integration)
- Migration experience (on-prem to cloud, tenant-to-tenant)
- Experience with user adoption strategies and change management frameworks

Highly Preferred:

- Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert (highly relevant)
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator / Contemporary Desktop / Security Administrator (supporting)
- Microsoft Power Platform certifications (PL-900, PL-100, PL-200, PL-400 depending on depth)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or Azure Administrator (preferred)
- ITIL Foundation (for service management alignment)
