Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced, high-integrity Manager (Operations Books Category) to own the end-to-end lifecycle of our academic books and stationery segment. You will be the crucial link connecting academic decision-makers (Principals/Trustees), top publishing houses, internal ERP/warehouse teams, and end-consumers (parents).
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic & School Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise directly with School Management, Principals, Subject Heads, and Academic Influencers to curate and finalize book lists, notebooks, and stationery bundles across all grades.
- Maintain deep expertise in CBSE, NCERT, ICSE curriculums, guidelines, and compliance requirements to advise partner schools accurately. Exposure to Cambridge and IB curricula is an added advantage.
2. Publisher Relations & Strategic Procurement
- Build and manage relationships with national publishers, regional distributors, and stationery manufacturers.
- Drive the end-to-end procurement lifecycle: drafting RFPs/RFQs, managing competitive bids, negotiating pricing and commissions, issuing Purchase Orders (POs), validating invoices, and closing contracts/MoUs.
- Ensure complete transparency, ethical practices, and compliance in all financial dealings and vendor agreements
3. Demand Forecasting & Analytics
- Work with internal AI tools and data metrics to accurately predict book quantities per school based on recent admission projections, historical sales, and current market dynamics
- . Spread operational procurement throughout the year to eliminate last-minute stock-outs during the peak FebruaryApril academic rush.
4. Fulfillment & Warehouse Orchestration
- Collaborate closely with the warehouse and fulfillment center teams to ensure 100% accurate, error-free kitting (grade-wise bundling) and packing.
- Oversee order dispatches across both bulk institutional deliveries (brick-andmortar) and direct-to-parent doorstep deliveries (e-commerce).
5. Customer Success & Quality Assurance
- Act as the escalation point for school administrations and retail customers (parents) to resolve issues swiftly and maintain exceptionally high Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) scores.
- Work alongside tech/ERP teams to ensure digital catalog accuracy on our ecommerce platform.
Key Competencies & Candidate Profile
- Industry Experience: 7-10 years in educational publishing, school book distribution, or K-12 academic supply chain management.
- Ethics & Reputation: Unblemished track record demonstrating high ethical standards, transparency, and trustacting as a true brand ambassador.
- Commercial Acumen: Proven negotiation skills with major publishers and distributors along with a strong understanding of commercial terms and contracts.
- Data & ERP Familiarity: Comfortable working with modern ERP systems, data spreadsheets, and digital inventory workflows.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills to engage comfortably with school Trustees, Principals, and corporate publisher reps.
