TECHNICAL SKILLS & EXPERTISE

• Solid SQL skills (advanced queries, CTEs, window functions) for cost data extraction and analysis across multiple databases and data sources
• Python scripting for data engineering: pandas, numpy, data extraction APIs, ETL pipeline development, and automation of data processing tasks
• Dashboard development: Power BI (preferred), Tableau, Grafana, or Superset building automated, scheduled dashboards with drill-down and alerting capabilities
• Experience with data integration from enterprise tools: ServiceNow (CMDB/ITAM), Flexera/Snow (licence management), monitoring platforms (Datadog, SolarWinds, Prometheus)
• Excel/Google Sheets: advanced modelling, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, and financial calculations for TCO and amortisation
• Understanding of on-premises infrastructure: servers, VMs, storage arrays, network equipment, and how these map to cost categories
• Basic understanding of enterprise licensing models: Microsoft EA, Oracle, VMware, Red Hat — how licences are counted, consumed, and optimised
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD concepts for data pipeline code management
• Understanding of the FinOps.org framework fundamentals: Inform, Optimise, Operate lifecycle and key FinOps domains

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• 3–5 years in data engineering, data analytics, IT operations, or infrastructure cost analysis
• Hands-on experience building ETL pipelines and data visualisation dashboards in enterprise environments
• Experience working with CMDB, asset management, or IT financial management data
• FinOps Certified Practitioner (FinOps.org) — desirable or willingness to certify within 6 months
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
DESIRABLE / NICE TO HAVE
• Experience with ServiceNow ITFM, Apptio, or Flexera One
• Background in financial data analysis or management accounting support
• Data engineering certifications (Azure Data Engineer, dbt Analytics Engineering)
• Experience with on-premises licence compliance audits (Microsoft SAM, Oracle LMS)
• Exposure to hybrid FinOps covering both on-premises and cloud environments
